Summary
Rookie Cop Dave Stewart knew that William Bailey was guilty of murder. All he had to do to convict him was change one line in his statement.
Detective Chief Superintendent John McCauley loves dirt. He collects it in secret files to use against his enemies, and since Stewart slept with the beautiful Detective Sergeant Anne Wallace, he is the enemy. Stewart hatches a plan to destroy the evidence against him, but inside McCauley's files is evidence of a vile paedophile ring operating under the Chief's nose. Now three people are dead, and Dave Stewart is the prime suspect.

fantastic!
I've listened to so many audio book over the recent years, but I have to note that this book has to be one of the best.
Jonathan Keeble is an amazing narrator and his words immerse you into the story. If I could of given this book 6 stars, I would of done.

Good Story Brilliantly Narrated
Well told police story set in the 1980's. The story starts with a mistake committed by a probationary constable during the arrest of a local thug and erupts from this error. The characters are well drawn but the real praise must go to the narration provided by Jonathan Keeble whose faultless performance brings the story to life.

Absolutely brilliant
This is the first book I’ve listened to by Robert White so wasn’t sure what to expect. I needn’t have worried, it was brilliant, and Jonathan Keeble brought the characters to life.

Loved it. Wish there were more. Even though the endless series of books drive me mad. I’d like more about these guys.

Couldn’t stop listening
Fantastic book from the word go. Would have given 5 stars but the very abrupt ending, or should I say not really an ending really spoilt it.
