Summary

Going Dark is the debut crime thriller from former covert specialist Detective Sergeant Neil Lancaster.

Tom Novak is a troubled soul with a dark and bloody past. A former refugee, Royal Marine and member of the elite Special Reconnaissance Regiment, he now finds himself struggling with the deadening routine of day-to-day policing. When he is deployed undercover to infiltrate a gang of people traffickers, things go badly wrong. Faced with an impossible choice, his cover is blown, and he finds himself on the run from the Serbian mafia and even his fellow police colleagues. With no-one to trust, and his enemies using all the resources of the state against him, Tom has only one option: to Go Dark.

Great story

This story is fast moving, and well narrated.
I very much enjoy this book and am going to look for another in the series if there is one?

Well worth a read

The narrator takes some getting used to but the story is worth it. Looks like Tom Novak is a new hero.

Shining a light of Neil Lancaster

Going Dark was my first Neil Lancaster book and I really enjoyed it. Author’s knowledge of policing comes through

Best audiobook I've ever listened to

Just finished the most brilliant audiobook I've ever listened to. Like Neil, I was a London cop for 30 years, we've both dealt with truly evil men, and he brings them to life perfectly. Gripping, unnerving, totally captivating, I simply can't wait for more from Novak. Superb!

Can’t wait for the next book

If this is a debut novel I can’t wait to listen to his next book. Narration a little stilted at times but enjoyed from start to finish.

Fun

The story was nicely put together although the amount of help the hero received seems unlikely. Not allowing oneself to be critical about the amount of help given lead to listening to a captivating story.

No too bad

Story line was okay but it was spoiled by dodgy narration of some of the characters.

Great story

A good and fast paced novel but the audio book was almost ruined by the silly hammed up German /American accent used for one of the characters.

So enjoyable!

Great book, great pace to the story and the characters are well fleshed out. The narration was spot on and faded into the background while bringing everyone to life. It’s a bit like Jacker Reacher meets the Gray man but not as formulaic as Reacher’ and this doesn’t really do it justice!! well worth a credit!
