About this listen

A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook

Since the T’au Empire annexed the world of Cao Quo, its benighted human population has caused setback after setback for their new rulers, resisting the light of the Greater Good. Now, an armed rebellion has taken root, led by the ruthless but brilliant Artamax – a Space Marine of the Raptors Chapter.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Explore the inner workings, politics, and challenges facing members of the T'au as they face a full-scale planetary insurrection from within their own empire. Can a selection of experts from across the castes come together to defeat this insurgency?

THE STORY

In a moment of crisis for the T'au Empire, the enigmatic ethereal Yor’i assembles an elite Elemental Council – a veteran Fireblade, a water caste spy, a peerless air caste pilot, and a maverick earth caste engineer – in the hope of curtailing the growing insurgency on the planet Cao Quo.

But as a full-scale planetary insurrection looms, enemies more cunning than Yor’i’s council could have imagined begin to surface from both sides, and Cao Quo soon finds itself teetering on the brink of being plunged back into a dark age of ignorance, and all-out war.

good story with some nice twists

good bit of lore for the tau with them fighting for control of a border world with more than just arms.

good outing of the raptors, there aren't many stories of marines doing more than throwing a chainsword about but this is a good one.

This is how you write a good T'au book

Honestly one of the best T'au books i have read. Noah portrays the intricacies of t'au society, with the element council being a great way to show interactions between the castes. Each of the elemental council caste members have their own motivations and fears making them greater characters to read about and care for.

Could not recommend this book more for any warhammer 40k fan who like T'au (or the Raptors!).

Best T'au focused novel so far

This was the best T'au focused novel out of all the ones released. The audio version was good and very easy to listen

Loved it.

Some great perspective from the Tau, Kroot, AM and even a lone space marine. The Elemental Council is a rag-tag bunch but explains thoughts, ideas and perspectives well of each individual member. A decent twist in there too keeps you listening.

Excellent and definitive.

A fantastic story in its own right, but also one that gets right to the heart of the Tau Empire and its place in the grim darkness of the far future. One of the best Black Library novels I've read and the pinnacle of Tau centred fiction.

THE CAT AND THE MOUSE.

I enjoyed the description of cat and mouse battles between the assassin, Space Marine and Tau.

One to remember

Superb story - providing rare insight into the Tau Empire, and jam packed with mystery, intrigue and action. Felt like a refreshing change of pace from wider Black Library fiction and was backed up by excellent narration.

A new contender for my Favourite warhammer book

This is undoubtedly the best book featuring the Tau hands down. Going in I already had high expectations as Noah Van Nguyen wrote one of my favourite AoS books (Godeaters son) but this book still managed to blow me away and is now one of my favourite books to come out of black library. Also have to mention the stellar narration which helps elevate it even further.
