Summary

"Real science in Science Fiction. This is a must read for fans of SF."
—John S. Gertsch, Amazon Reviewer

Perfect for fans of Peter F. Hamilton, Iain M. Banks, and Orson Scott Card, Fear the Sky is a hard-hitting sci-fi thriller that will have you looking at the stars in a different way.

In eleven years time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out. Their technology is vastly superior to ours, and they know they cannot possibly lose the coming conflict. But they, like us, have found no answer to the destructive force of the atom, and they have no intention of facing the onslaught of our primitive nuclear arsenal, or the devastation it would wreak on the planet they crave. So they have flung out an advanced party in front of them, hidden within one of the countless asteroids randomly roaming the void. They do not want us, they want our planet. Their Agents are arriving.

Intelligent, Raw and Captivating

What did you like most about Fear the Sky?

The story grabs hold of you, and only lets you go for brief moments to allow you (and the characters) a moment to take a breath.

Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I've just started listening to another book narrated by R.C. Bray, and I'm so glad that he is narrating. He is simply fantastic.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes.

Great book but a bit to much detail.

A great story that I really enjoyed. But in places there was to much detail causing me to get a little bored. But I definitely look forward to the next one in the series

boring slow start but it really gets going!

The narrator is monotone and readying technical long drawn out sentences so I nearly asked for a refund. But I stuck it out and pleased I did... I have already pre-ordered the next book.

Well plotted story

I have now listened to all three books in this series and have enjoyed them all. Needless to say ,R C Bray is magnificent as always ,bringing the many characters to life . It is an interesting and well thought out story line . Some of the developments in book 3 surprised me . Not happy endings for all . It is Sci Fi but in places reads like a fast moving spy novel . No worse for that . I recommend this book and the audio version.

Gripped by FEAR

Where does Fear the Sky rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Pretty good - certainly had me listening intently.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There were certainly a few good characters, but I don't think any one stood out specifically.
It was more the story that took first prize.

What about R.C. Bray’s performance did you like?

Good tempo, decent characterisations. It was easy to follow with differentiated voices for the various personas.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Realising why the agents were dropped in their specific locations. I figured it "before the characters" - but still still a very interesting premise!.

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth a read if you want easy yet thrilling tale to entertain.
