A brand new mafia Why Choose that is dark as heck, from an author I really enjoy, albeit her first with this pen name. And I really liked how none of the characters were particularly likeable. Plus it really hit a lot the tropes i love (age gap, kidnapped from a wedding, cold unfeeling character to everyone but his "family") After graciously being selected to ARC read book 2 in this series, it gave me the push I needed to read this which i bought like the day after it came out. In a way I'm glad I waited because I'm about to dive into book 2 right away because that cliffhanger was SOMETHING ELSE. The writing was on point and I cannot wait to see how to plays out. Bring it on.

CW: Gun play, knife play, impact play, dub con, murder, violence, roughing up of the heroine whilst underage, trauma of loss.

First Comes Blood by Lilith Vincent is a mafia reverse harem romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Maeve York and Walker Williams. This is the first book in the Promised in Blood series.

This is the second book of Lilith's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved that we got Chiara, Salvatore, Vinicius, Cassius, and Lorenzo's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ended on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Second Comes War to be released on audio so I can get more of their story.

Walker and Maeve did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, reverse harem romances, or romantic suspense.
