Summary

Fletch, as unbridled as ever and still living the good life in Italy on his ill-gotten fortune, gets a surprising visit from two surly FBI agents. The pair offers him a deal: either he attend the American Journalism Alliance convention and work as an undercover spy for them, or be shipped back to headquarters and face jail time for tax evasion.

Reluctantly agreeing to the scheme, he catches a red-eye flight back to the States. But just as rubber hits tarmac in Virginia, news breaks on a murder at the convention. The victim - a newspaper tycoon and former employer of I. M. Fletch - was no stranger to enemies. And at a hotel full of reporters who'd all had their dealings with the tyrannical leader, everyone's a suspect.

"Just he right man for the job."

Same old flippant Fletch, this time enjoying life in Italy when two men from the FIB persuade him to return to the USA to attend the American Journalism Alliance and spy for them, threatening to otherwise have him arrested for undeclared taxes. But before He even arrives, a former employer and newspaper tycoon is murdered.
As always, great comedic dialogue, and an excellent performance by Dan John Miller.

Rambles a bit!!

Narrator is very good, I don't think I would have finished the book otherwise

Great listen!

A great listen, Fletch has become comfortable living the easy life on the Italian riviera when the secret service come knocking and blackmail him into spying on his colleagues in the press… to top it off, before he arrives at the convention, his former boss is murdered!
Some great characters in this instalment, Chrystal is hilarious!
A perfect easy listening series with laugh out loud moments.

Fletch at his witty best!

Inspired dialogue from Gregory Mcdonald with a strong lead character, even if is a bit stretched at times. Great fun to listen to!

Good

Not as good as the first two books but still enjoyed. Fletch is quite a character.

Fletch is blakmailed

Fletch receives a surprise visit from special agents that blackmail him into attending the American Journalism Alliance to spy on some journalists. On the day Fletch arrives to the convention, someone murders the Alliance's president and Fletch is one of the few journalists who doesn't have a motive for murdering him.
Flethch's adventures are quite fun and the narrator is pretty good. However, this time there was no real twist or at least I saw everything coming so it wasn't as entertaining as the previous ones. Nevertheless, Fletch is a great character and I am surprised at how well some women are characterised as well. I confess I missed Flynn on this one.

Another enjoyable Fletch outing

Another enjoyable and easy to listen to Fletch adventure with the usual dry humour and good narration.

I only started the series as I was looking for something between credits. The first one was a bit ropey but three books in I appreciate the simplicity and fun that the series offers.

This time out Fletch is surrounded by other journalists and the story is a bit of a who dunnit mixed with Fletch getting one up in the government as usual.

Nice mindless fun.

Always amusing

Funny and clever - and at such a fast pace it can be tricky to follow at times. But I enjoy the series.
