About this listen

Dr. Emily Hartford is back in Frozen Lives, the next thrilling mystery from Jennifer Graeser Dornbush.

Chicago surgeon Emily Hartford has never quite shaken off the dust of her hometown in Michigan. She may be a professional success and have a princely boyfriend in the Windy City, but she can’t seem to let go of being “the coroner’s daughter” from Freeport.

Once again, she finds herself pulled back to her hometown when Jeremiah—the eleven-year-old son of her best friend, Jo—goes missing on the frigid shores of Lake Michigan.

To everyone’s relief, Jeremiah turns up days later, alive and unharmed. But tensions remain high, and suspicions of every sort continue to grow. Jeremiah’s account of his abduction doesn’t add up, and Emily worries about Jo’s unraveling marriage. Jeremiah’s recovery, it turns out, is not the end of their terrifying tale. It’s just the beginning …

For moving among them is a devious, malevolent force. Sowing panic while seeking to fulfill his own twisted needs, this wolf in sheep’s clothing leaves a trail of rack and ruin, heedless of the damage in his wake … and the bodies he leaves behind.

Emily solidifies her role as the coroner’s daughter when she puzzles out this madman’s chilling machinations. Risking everything dear to her, Emily is determined to go the icy distance and end his killing spree.

I have listened to all of the books, they are absolutely fantastic and interesting. At the end of every book I’m eager that the author is writing a new one for me to listen to. I listen to each one several times.

I’ve loved following this series and this one was the best one yet. No spoilers but the ending!! Please do another one!!’

Outstanding read that had me gripped

I found the abduction content of the plot quite challenging to read, however the story was beautifully written and well worth keeping going through the uncomfortable parts. I’ve enjoyed all of the coroner’s daughter books and look forward to the next.

A challenging but worthwhile read

I really enjoyed spending time with the main characters again, especially with Emily.
Once again she is torn between her life in Chicago and her home town of Freeport, where she will always be the coroner’s daughter. She is well respected in Freeport and has many friends. Her relationship with her sister and nieces is becoming closer but what about her relationship with Brandon (whose mother is definitely over-involved in his life!!)?
This story begins immediately after its predecessor, as Emily is driving back to Chicago. She learns that the son of her best friend Jo, has disappeared. Emily returns to Freeport to support Jo.
No spoilers from me but, although Emily’s professional skills are not required as the plot unravels, she remains the coroner’s daughter.
Well worth a listen (even if you haven’t read the earlier books!).

Another winner!!

The story is in the open and a lot of changes await the main characters. This is by far no small rural town mystery as the whole world takes part in the story. Still the people and the surrounding is very much alive and part of the enjoyment. The story evolving gets very personal and still hints to a deeply disturbing back ground. I had expected a final book in the series but had hoped for more, as there are so much more stories still to resolve and still to live. Can’t wait for more to come and I’m sure it will be as gripping as the previous books.

And the story continues with a vengeance
