About this listen
It was supposed to be a medical marvel. Instead, it triggered the apocalypse.
Half of humanity mutated into mindless zombies. Half the survivors mutated into the inhumans: various new species of people with new appearances and abilities. Some grew scales, some grew fur, some could fly, some could survive only underwater.
Decades passed, and from the ashes of the old world, a new patchwork civilization rose. Humans and inhumans lived in tentative peace, and the zombies turned out to be not much of a threat once a few generations of survivors had come and gone.
All that changed last spring when the virus mutated again. Now, the inhumans are mutating into lethal horrors and running rampant, murdering thousands.
David is a survivor. Born decades after the collapse, his is a life of lonely wandering. As the first winter in this new world of dangerous monsters sets, he finds a place to bunk down for the season. But David has no idea that he is about to be forced to change the course of his entire life. When the settlement he intended to stay at is destroyed, he wanders the frozen countryside and begins encountering other survivors, many of them attractive, inhuman woman, looking for the same thing he is: comfort, companionship, and a place to call home...
This collection contains HAVEN 1-8 & HAVEN—EPILOGUE. It also contains three bonus short stories.
HAVEN features badass women, settlement building, and lots of monster fighting.

Giving the honest review I wish I’d read before buying
A lot of this comes down to personal preference so this shouldn’t completely turn you away unless our preferences align.
I’m not a avid “smut” reader but I like to visit one every now and again and with me working nights a lengthy book does tend to pull me in quicker
If you’re into beta male content with a very linear story this will be okay for you…
I’ll start this off by saying you can tell it’s written by a women, a group of really independent strong women smitten by a beta male who’s bang average in every department, a complete pussy when it comes conversation and relationships, finishes super quick and needs to be saved repeatedly by women in a word where only the strong survive.
*potential spoilers* not to the story but the premise what it’s missing
The story itself has no background, you don’t know when it’s set, where they are, you have no idea what happened to cause such a travesty or why they are in the situation they are in, why they survived what the actual long term plan is, you don’t even know what the short term plan is, there is next to no details about anything other than the description of characters
Current situation ~> hours of a journey missed ~> turn up somewhere ~> random encounter where women throw themselves at him ~> skip hours in time ~> go somewhere else ~> rinse and repeat
Just constantly feels like it’s missing something and I understand a smut story doesn’t necessarily need a good story but with it being as long as it is, I don’t understand how it can repeatedly skip hours on end offer little to next to no details.

don't buy it for the story...
... because there is very little of it. it's a book version of adult movies where whole plot starts and finishes at pizza delivery.

cringe but fun
cool story, alot of fan service but repeated situations and sex chat I'd mega off putting. (doesn't work with the narration accent very well.)

Disruptive Performance
The story is alright for what it is, the narration kept annoying me. The narrator does try to give each character their own voice. The problem is from their cadence and inflections. The cadence doesn't vary which isn't necessarily a bad thing but can be a bit dull if other performative aspects don't help it. My main issue is the random inflections the narrator uses on ending every other sentence. It is to the point that I am questioning whether the narrator had an AI do a text to speak conversion.
