About this listen

The Wandering Inn, Book 1, has been rewritten by pirateaba and re-recorded by Andrea Parsneau. This revised edition includes new scenes and perspectives.

"No killing Goblins."

So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours.

It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

In a dangerous world where magic is real and people can level up and gain classes, Erin Solstice must battle somewhat evil Goblins, deadly Rock Crabs, and hungry [Necromancers]. She is no warrior, no mage. Erin Solstice runs an inn. She's an [Innkeeper].

The general story was pretty compelling, especially after a couple of chapters. It really picks up about halfway. I found the narrator to be a little overly emotive, particularly when just describing what's happening to somebody, but she did a good job with the variety of characters she was working with.

Definitely worth a listen

I've read a lot over the years; audiobooks, RoyalRoads, kindles. This tops everything. The only regret I have is that after The Wandering Inn, it becomes harder to enjoy other audiobooks because nothing is ever as good.

Nothing really makes me laugh, cry and feel like the Wandering Inn does.

But here's also my honest thoughts, Volume one sucks. At least up until half way through where the story picks up and you get a glimpse of Pirateaba's iconic style, raw and emotional writing at it's best. Pretty great but still just a preview compared to the later volumes.

So if you've got time to burn; a great tale awaits.

The BEST LitRPG there is. There is no contest.

This is a wonderful story, very well written. I couldn't help but grow to love all the characters, rooting for their success, giggled at their silly antics, wept for their losses. Erin's conversations with Pisces made me laugh out loud and I couldn't get enough of her way of talking to herself.
I am buying the Second book asap.
The narrator was the perfect choice, fantastic delivery.

Absolutely amazing!

Probably one of the best audiobooks ive ever listened too...bloody brilliant. The story is easy to follow but full of descriptions and wondrous delights. Characters are flawed but have depth and personality. Finally the narrator brings the whole thing too life, with the distinct voices for each species and individual

This will be a hard act to follow

The best thing about this book is that it so SO long and just keeps scratching that itch. Also there is SO much more to listen to and read to!

A truly unique LitRPG

I heard of this book and didn’t expect much but every glowing review made it more enticing and I just had to find out. It’s over a thousand pages but I took my time it took me 11 month to finish this story and most of this time was spend on the beginning. It took me weeks switching between reading my kindle and listening to the audiobook each chapter. Sometimes a few months would go by between each chapters but there was no pressure to hurry it up. The characters, plot and world building slowly opened up and became interesting. I began to bond with some characters and got sucked into their struggles and making sense of the chaos of the different races, the magic, the world, and the increasing number of characters and this thing called levelling up! I couldn’t have predicted the twists and turns of this book and the ending blew me away. Talk about making up for the slow beginning. What an adventure and there’s still more to come and many equally exciting follow on book to read in this series. The ending left enough questions, mysteries and exciting suggestions that all my favourite characters will meet up. I’m off to find out what happens next to my favourite characters!

This was epic in the most unexpected way!

Been reading and then listening to fantasy/sci-fi for 37 years since I was 13, and this is the most frustratingly, addictive book I have ever come across. The world building is immense, admittedly slow, but that's how you should consume all good fare!

The side stories and non-main characters are fantastic and the writing and performance is great (apart from the chipmonk voice for the main character)

I cant settle and a true feeling on this book its both great and annoying at the same time, stopped the audio a millions times but always pressed play again.

Im only towards the end of the 2nd book, however I know there is much written about the main character, however there has been no person, animal, AI, vegetable, mineral, hero, villan ever invented that is as annoying, hypocritical, and I have fevered manic dreams for her death, as much as Erin, the bubbly dark lord of the soul!!!!

A fantastic experience that will delight and annoy in equal measure!!

This book was hard to get into the first few hours can really feel like a slog, but it was worth it I found the story very interesting and it's very diffrent to my normal action heavy OP MCs in Litrpgs. The main characters can come of abit annoying at times but they grow and improve and act how many normal people would in their situation.

Good storytelling

Absolutely loved it, excellent narration, excellent story, and nearly every character is a well rounded individual you come to love.

I was not prepared for the Game of Thrones level of character death though! But it adds so much more to the story as the stakes do become real.

I also loved the fact that the a good number of main characters and side characters are females who are well rounded unique people in their own rights. There wasn't a love story or a damsel in distress which would have reduced them to tropes or objects, instead we get grounded people we can relate too as they struggle through a strange world.

High praise for Pirate Aba!

Absolutely loved it
