About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
I know you care about children. Whether you've got your own kids or you look after other people's, you have a deep love for these little humans.
You want them to grow up in a world where people are basically kind to each other and kind to the planet. But when you look at the world now—a mental health crisis, a global pandemic, climate change, war—you worry about the possible future your child is facing and how they will cope.
There are already countless parenting books, many of them very helpful. But few address the backdrop to our parenting—a world so full of change and uncertainty that it's getting harder to catch our breath, to find our feet on solid ground. The truth is that our children's minds are affected by this world, and we don't talk about this anywhere near enough.
Whatever your worries, I've created this book for us to explore these worries together. If there is one lesson we really need to learn in the 21st century, it is this: we are all in this together.
I'm not promising a quick-fix, instant enlightenment and eternal peace. What I can say for sure is that in this book you will find practical tools and perspectives that will help you find your own authentic answer to the question: how can we best prepare our children to live in these times?
You will learn to navigate uncomfortable truths and feelings, and I will guide you to bring a little more love and healing to the parts of your self, the parts of your child and the parts of the world that cause you the most concern.
You might laugh, and you might cry, but whatever your experience, I guarantee you will learn at least one insight that could well be life-changing.

Life changing
Such expertise, wisdom and kindness. This is not an easy book as one has to look at ourselves. But already I am benefiting. I wish everyone ~ parents or not - would read this. The world would be a better place.

An essential book for anyone wanting to understand more about modern childhood
This is an extraordinary book which gently weaves together themes of psychology, psycho analysis, child development and spirituality as a guide to the modern world. The book supports the reader to find their own path and solutions to their worries about their child, and without spoiling it too much, solutions to worries about themselves. I listened to the audiobook and Louis Weinstock has such a warm supportive tone that it was difficult to stop listening, even when the content was arresting and challenging. Unlike other books I’ve read with similar themes alongside the warmth there’s a genuine humour and compassion for the realities of modern parenting- brought to life by Louis examples with his own family. This grounding in the realities of family life make the changes the book lead me to feel all the more achievable. It’s a fantastic book which I recommend to both parents and anyone who works with children.

Really thought provoking
This book has truly helped me look at the way I parent differently. I harp on at anyone who will listen about assessing risk when your children want to do something new and passing on our - sometimes irrational - anxieties to our children.
Can’t recommend enough.
