About this listen
Don't let your traumatic past hold you back—shed the chains of suffering and embrace newfound strength, peace within yourself, and a liberated spirit.
Would you like to leave your troublesome past behind and take a giant leap into the future? Millions around the globe grapple with similar difficulties, and a shocking survey revealed that well over two-thirds of young people had encountered a traumatic event in their teenage years.
It can be challenging to move past painful situations when those who caused them are your kin. Those you expected to cradle and shield you were instead your tormentors. The cycle continues, and if no action is taken, an intergenerational curse of pain and suffering will be unleashed. The wounds from the past are like a time bomb waiting to explode—further damaging future generations. You just need the strength to face your trauma head-on, be gentle with yourself, and be a supportive guide to reconnect with the child within you.
This indispensable guidebook will be your companion on the journey to rebirth, helping you reach new heights and achieve all that is rightfully yours.
In this handbook, you will discover:
- How to reconnect and improve the relationship with your inner child.
- Real-life anecdotes from survivors of childhood trauma–how they overcame great adversity and lived to talk about it.
- Simple and practical tips to become more self-aware and discover the real you that lies within.
- The power of words, and how you can use them to transform your life.
- The cause–and effect–of your insecurity, fear, and anxiety, and how you can turn the tables.
- How practicing self-forgiveness can take you a step closer to a better inner self–and how to make sure you don't lose yourself in the process.
- Clear signs that your inner child is healing—and the best exercises to further accelerate the process.
- How to cease negative self-talk and instead cultivate a kinder view of yourself, replacing self-pity with comforting acceptance of your flaws.

Finally a book that goes deep into what your inner child is and how a wounded inner child can keep you in suffering your whole life. When I read this book, I couldn't help but identify with the stories the author shares. We all have generational trauma that lingers in the shadows, shackling us to the past. This book helped me work through some them with the techniques and exercises. My Favorite Overall Audiobook/Book of the Year!
First off, I love this audiobook cover, as it encompasses the idea of the book.
Oh, and…!
Honestly, I think everyone could read this book and get something from it. It’s so easy to get in the grind of this world we forget to have fun, child-like fun. That child in you is looking to escape.
Oh, and walking barefoot…!
The practical ways in which we can unleash our inner child really stuck with me, such as digging in the yard, watching cartoons, or playing with toys. Also, the idea of writing about your experiences on paper. Kathy’s story really struck a chord with me.
Oh, and walking barefoot is amazing!
There’s a lot of great information and much more depth than I ever thought possible about this topic. Don’t mind me, I’m just unleashing my inner child and playing around! Definitely recommend this audiobook! Thanks, Lynette Alexander!

Is so pleasant that I wanted to listen to it again
I liked this audiobook a lot because it is well-rounded and explains first what can cause childhood trauma and how that trauma affects people until adulthood. It is eye-opening to know that there are many things that can affect children and cause long-lasting harm. I have been wanting to learn more about the inner child because it is a concept I have heard a lot but I didn't know too much about it. I’m glad I found this book because not only the information is in-depth but also the narrator’s voice is so calm and nice! I liked how the author set a good foundation and explained “how to fill the void that is inside” step by step and start the healing process. She also explained additional therapies that can help to heal and why is important to get professional help when needed. My favorite chapter was without a doubt the one about reparenting and how to develop unconditional love and taking care of yourself as an adult. The exercises at the end of each chapter were very helpful in practicing the concepts that I learned. When I finished listening to the book I felt that I needed to go back and listen to it again because it was so pleasant!
