Summary
Do you feel all the feels - all the time? Are you fed up with the mainstream spiritual "love and light" scene that calls for constant positivity, even in the face of true loss, trauma, and pain? If so, this book is for you.
I Don’t Want to Be an Empath Anymore is a gift for the jaded empath searching for authenticity in spirituality, and spirituality in being authentic - something beyond the clichéd, positive affirmations that seem to invalidate our anger, sadness, and pain. When we feel broken - and when real damage has been done, it’s not always helpful to ignore our feelings and tell ourselves that we are perfect and whole.
In this refreshingly honest guide, shamanic practitioner Ora North offers practical exercises to help you navigate your intuition and empathic sensitivities, create much-needed boundaries, and build confidence. You’ll also learn to balance your emotions and energy, and harness the strength of your shadow side to embrace your whole self and live your best life.
Like the Japanese craft known as Kintsugi - the art of repairing broken pottery using a lacquer dusted with powdered gold - the process of acknowledging and repairing our fragmented selves can make us even more beautiful than before, cracks and all. In this book, you won’t find platitudes or attempts to whitewash your experiences. What you will find are real, practical tools and guidance to help you make the most of your unique abilities.

Great book great insite
I found this book very enlightening and helped me understand having good and bad makes you human I've always known I felt more or even saw more than others now I know its not a bad thing it is a gift that is mishandled can be destructive. Spot on about narsasists but what you don't touch on is narcs and adhd have the same patterns for different reasons and motives that's very hard to read which is why im drawn to stonewallers as no emotion means less energy removed but in the end costs you more in long run.

WOW
Ive been trying to understand the feelings and process my unstable emotions and ive never related to anything... Until now! From the 1st 5 seconds i actually couldn't believe how much i related. Tbe ways the author explains emotions and breaks it down is incredible. Ive been in such a dark place, misunderstood, ignored, my pain invisible but always 'expected' to sort out everyone elses problems, issues.
Im not even finished yet and already feel like theres hope for me after all. I DO MATTER!

A must for any exhausted empath!
I absolutely love this book! I found it so refreshing, honest and insightful.
I love the way the author explorers the shadow side of our personality, those dark parts that empaths are not generally known for. It is exhausting soaking up energy all the time and without self care, it is easy to find ourselves overwhelmed which is not good for anyone.
I am not a fan of self help books normally but this is different. It avoids the meaningless positive thinking and encouges you to really get to know your feelings, even the unpleasant ones, and to validate them. I have started using the exercises and they have an almost spiritual quality to the depth of self awareness they enable. Particularly in terms of identifying your own emotions in order to separate them from those of others.
I have ordered a paper copy of the book too for ease of use, however I found the reader on audible authentic and easy to listen to.

Fantastic book
Fantastic book, just what I needed to help me make sense of the world around me, learn about myself and create a solid foundation on which to build a new life going forward.
Have ordered the paperback in order to better access the 'Work To Do' sections of the chapters.

Fantadtic addition to therapy
Ive been in 1-2-1 therapy 5 years ago (after lots of spiritual bullshit) Then I stepped into NVC practice (that I found the most eye-opening), AccessConsciousness and KatieByron's Work.
Im lucky I found this book even tho the title sounds spiritual bullshit.
Absolutely practical and useful, mostly recommended!!
