About this listen

The end of everything was her beginning....

It's November 2022. The human race has been wiped out by the 6DM virus (Six Days Maximum - the longest you've got before your organs disintegrate and you melt from the inside out). The end of the world as we know it.

Yet someone is still alive. Alone in a new world of burning cities, rotting corpses and ravenous rats, one woman has survived. A woman who has spent her whole life compromising what she wants and hiding how she feels to meet other people's expectations. From her career to her relationships, to what she wears and where she lives, she's made a lifetime of decisions to fit what other people want her to be.

But with no one else left, who will she become now that she's completely alone?

I read the book. I bought it on Audible . It’s the most original story I’ve read in years. I just loved it; it’s a cracking story filled with wit, wisdom, fear, and humour. Not a fluffy story a proper nail biter. I even shed a few tears along the way. Please, please write a sequel. I beg you. And thank you.

Spellbinding

I never write reviews and I'm not really a fan of apocalyptic fiction either but had to write something for this because I absolutely loved it. I found the character maddening and yet relatable, narration was fantastic, I even cried once. I can't wait to read this authors next book.

Loved this

I loved this book!! I didn't know how it would land for me, all things considered with the last few years, but it really triggered my imagination. I have struggled lately to find a book that I can stay with, but this is an audible 'page turner'. I recommend it totally and already have put several friends onto it, all are pleased with it so far. Great writer, look forward to her next. Let's hope its not about a world disaster as we will be forced to sit up and take notice.

Best Book in Ages

Best post apocalyptic book I've read and I've read a lot of them. So refreshingly believable. Brilliant from beginning to end.

Brilliant and believable.

I almost scrolled past this book whilst looking for something to listen to, but I’m glad I stopped and read the blurb and listened to a sample. Certainly this book won’t be for everyone as it features a pandemic and references Covid, however I really enjoyed it. As the book is written as a transcription of a recording by the main character I felt listening to the audiobook added something to the story. The narration was fantastic, was more acting than just reading, and I felt she really got across the emotions of the protagonist.

Fantastic story and excellent narration

The audio production on this is great, very inventive. The narrator acts some of the more dramatic scenes and it's very effective . It also has minimalist occasional background sound effects that work nicely to build the atmosphere. The story is about a deadly pandemic which struck hard about two years after our current REAL one. We accompany our un-named female protagonist as everyone else dies seemingly except her. She roams London, lives in hotels, finds food, and it's all written so well. As she goes along, she analyses her life and relationships. Don't miss this post pandemic - isfah - speculative fiction which is very grounded.

Much better than the blurb suggests

I loved the book and the narration was very good. However we didn’t need the sound effects, particularly at the end so I knocked a star off.

A good read

This book was recommended to me by a friend. I am really into post apocalyptic novels and this one was brilliant! It took me a while to like the main character, and must admit I will never forgive her for the zoo! But as the story unfolded I grew fond of her.
The story is really well written with a great ending!
Highly recommend this book! :)

Brilliant!

The narrator was excellent. Kept you interested in her story both then and before I couldn’t wait to find out more. The final part of her diary I was there feeling every moment.

Gripping

The best book I have listened to this year. I was there with her every step of the way, I could see everything, the author painted such a good picture. I was invested from the first to the last page. My only complaint is I wish it was longer. I am usually far too lazy to leave reviews but I had to on this one. Love yourself before it's too late and treat yourself to this little gem.

I am so sad it ended.
