Love is just around the corner . . .

Sweet, shy Mara Hanover is in love with her neighbor. For four years, she has secretly watched her dream man from afar. Handsome police detective Mitch Lawson is way out of her league. She's a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and there's no way a guy like Mitch would want anything to do with her. But when Mara has a leaky faucet that she can't fix, it's Mitch who comes to her rescue.

Mitch has been eyeing his beautiful neighbor for a long time. He jumps at the chance to help her, and soon their formerly platonic relationship gets very hot and heavy. But when Mara gets a disturbing phone call from her cousin's kids, she gets pulled back into the life she's tried so hard to leave behind. Can the hot law man convince Mara to let go of her past--and build a future with him? (Dream Man Series, Book 3)

very entertaining.

Really good story, read very well. I'm working my way through this series and they're all great.

My Ultimate Dream Man

Book 3 in the Dream Man series and Detective Mitch Lawson does not disappoint, not at all. He's got to be the best book boyfriend ever, all man, possessive of those he loves, and he know what he wants and isn't afraid of going after it. Mara on the other hand is shy, reserved, with no sense of self worth, so much so, that she frustrated me in parts, especially when she pushed Mitch away. Once Mitch managed to give her some self confidence, and she was willing to accept it, the story flowed a lot more for me. Loved the story (lots of drama), the writing and the characters, so good to keep in touch with the earlier dream men and their ladies, so looking forward to Tac's story, although I'm not sure any guy can top Mitch as my dream man.

Disappointing narration spoils a good read

I loved this book on kindle and have read it three times. So I am definitely a fan. But I only listened to one chapter on the audio version and then deleted it. The overall narration is excellent except for one glaring problem: The voice of the H. Instead of fabulous “alpha male”, the narrator gives us the voice of the nice “boy next door”. She barely changed her tone between H and h and sometimes I could not tell immediately which one was speaking, as their voices were so similar. It completely jarred with the character and image I had of the H. I highly recommend this book, it is one of my favourites – but not on audio.

Determined to be clueless

I used to enjoy this story but listening again after a couple of years break I wonder why.
Mara is the most irritating character and eventually I had to quit.
Most of the plot is Mitch making a sensible comment followed by a Mara inner monologue (E.g. OMG he’s speaking to me, why is he speaking to me? He’s so hot. I’m not. Never have been, Never will be, but OMG he’s STILL speaking to me!!!!!!!!!) Followed by her verbal response “Um, I don’t know…., oh I don’t think I ……Oh but……..” Followed by him patiently explaining his very clearly self explanatory comment. Followed by her inner monologue. Rinse and repeat.
Weaponised helplessness at its best. Not my cup of tea.

I rarely have to force myself to listen to the end

Would you try another book written by Kristen Ashley or narrated by Kate Russell?

No

What could Kristen Ashley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I prefer my characters to have a modicum of intelligence - and not to score every human being they meet on a 1-10 scoring system. She established the lack of self confidence of the main character with it but then it gets tiring and just stupid.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Kate Russell?

Possibly

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No
