Two of my favourite lines in this audiobook are that it's OK to slow down and try to understand yourself, and many small steps will get you where you want to go.
It was a very interesting listen for me. I think there may be undiagnosed members of my family that are bipolar. (I'm not a doctor.) And I also see similarities in the behaviour of my late alcoholic father.
Mental health issues are more common than people realize and much of the suffering is invisible and undiagnosed.
As the author says, it is important to seek help when you think you need it, and it's OK to ask for help.
This is full of great, non-judgmental support for those that have been diagnosed. I love how she says to be proud of your perfect imperfections. She wants to help listeners let go of the past and create new roads to a happier and more peaceful future.
There are great tips, such as keeping a diary/journal of your episodes, and examples for recognizing and understanding emotional triggers that cause you to be suddenly afraid or angry in a situation where you probably shouldn't be. This made me think of some of my own past situations where I experienced intense emotion that was out of context.
The author provides some great examples of challenging situations and tips for how to manage your thoughts and emotions.
I think this would be a valuable resource for both those affected directly, and those seeking to understand.

The author draws from her own personal experiences of living with bipolar disorder and offers valuable insights and advice for others who may be struggling with the condition. She also emphasizes the importance of structure, self-care, and support systems in managing bipolar disorder. One thing often overlooked is how family and friends react to people with bi-polar disorder and how discriminating it is. She mentions that often the suffering person is not invited to parties or family get togethers because people don't understand the disease. This is not only heartbreaking, but makes life much more difficult for the suffering person. Fortunately, Patricia has a lot of good advice for navigating such destructive behavior by others.
I must also mention that Abigail Morrison does a great job narrating this book. She has and engaging and very professional voice.
Very practical guide to help with this disease
