About this listen

*Contains an exclusive Adam Fawley short story*

From the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Tiktok sensation MURDER IN THE FAMILY and the DI Adam Fawley series comes a brand new gripping crime thriller about a figure from the past…

In 2016, eight-year-old Daisy Mason vanished from her Oxford home.

Her disappearance made the national press and the final culprit shocked everyone. DCI Adam Fawley remembers the case well, he arrested Daisy’s mother for murder himself.

But her body was never found.

Now, forensic evidence at a current murder scene calls the whole case into question. DCI Adam Fawley and the team are brought back in to investigate. And they all have one question on their minds.

What really happened to Daisy Mason?

It was a great story apart from a couple of things. The diary parts were tedious and I think spoilt the flow of the story. Also, the ending was weak. The narrators were excellent.

A great story, but the ending was weak

another marvellous story, lots of twists, good to have the team back together and find out how their lives have moved on, Cara never fails to deliver

gripping

The narrators & regular characters are first class as always. Story good too. An excellent choice

The narrators

Not much was resolved, slow progress and too many detectives. I could just about follow the names, and not much really happened.
I didn’t know if I was at the end of the book and then suddenly it’s a new short story? Fell flat completely. Disappointing, but Cara Hunter is still a great author. Just didn’t enjoy this one.
Performances were great as usual!

Felt like a lot of nothing.

Really loved this book ….couldn’t put it down … despite the length between this and the previous book, I picked up the characters easily (like old friends). Narration was brilliant as always …. and story was clever and well written … best thing I’d read for a while!. But the ending was unnecessary abrupt. Felt like this wasn’t to benefit of the story… more to exploit the commercial opportunity of the potential next book. Come on Cara … you’re better than that!

A game of 2 halves ….

As always a brilliant read I just love Adam Fawley, Lee ingleby narrates him to perfection , kick in the tale at the beginning & continues all the way through

Brilliant

twists and turns - just when you think you know the answer it brings up something new !

I got a bit bored with the details of emails and conversations at first, but got used to them. Unlike some other reviewers, I was happy with the ending, it actually made me smile.
The short story was intriguing and sad, I look forward to a continuation of both.

Long winded at times but very good

I have really enjoyed the past DI Fawley books for clever plots and suspense but this story was tired and predictable, Lots of repeat facts .
Disappointed

Story kept repeating

I was over the moon to see that Adam and his team was back and what a great storyline it was to come back to as well, especially with the brilliant Lee Ingleby narrating but that ending well I'm sorry to say it was flatter than a pancake on Shrove Tuesday.

Adam's back!!!
