Summary

When puberty brings on her first shift, Missy goes into the mountains for two years - until finally learning to change back. She can change from fully human in one instant to a mountain lion in the next. Everyone assumes her two-year disappearance was because she'd been kidnapped by a sexual predator that she managed to kill. She keeps her werecat nature a secret. There is no pack, no pride of other werecats, and no alpha. She's a girl with fantastic abilities growing up and learning to do great things in today's world, amongst humans. She only has her instincts to guide her, and those drive her to train herself to extremes. She must control those instincts; dampening the wild predator is often necessary. Her raging hormones and enhanced senses require very strong controls; she explores what happens when those controls are relaxed.

Narrator sounds like Nanna reading a bible story

Would you try another book written by P. G. Allison or narrated by Meghan Kelly?

Yes - I'm in enjoying the book, but I don't like the narration. I find myself either getting irritated or tuning out.

What other book might you compare Missy the Werecat to, and why?

Hard to say - it's nice having a "coming of age" were story for once.

Would you be willing to try another one of Meghan Kelly’s performances?

Nope

If this book were a film would you go see it?

Probably not

Any additional comments?

I'm enjoying the story, but I don't think that this has the right narrator

Missy the Werecat

This is a lovely coming of age story, where she has a bit more to deal with than just puberty. Read well by Meghan Kelly.

Disappointed

Audio levels all over the shop, and a story that sounds like a bad book report on the actual novel.

Its ,,, Very Special !...

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I probably would to someone who wanted an uncomplicated fun read.

Would you recommend Missy the Werecat to your friends? Why or why not?

I would but for the same reasons I put for the previous question.

Did Meghan Kelly do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

She did though I dont think she enjoyed what she was actually narrating.
It didnt come across as a book she actually liked.

Do you think Missy the Werecat needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yeah why not ,,, I dont mind books which dont take themselves too seriously.

Any additional comments?

Ok now the Cons about these books,,

The Author used "very special" "special" and "magical" and other phrases way way too much,,, needs to expand there vocabulary & vocabulary in descriptions used by characters in regards to the main character !

Plays to the sterotypes of Gangsters , Military and Other persons so you expect the gangsters to be like the Goodfellas and the Military to be like A Few Good Men.

The sex scenes are ,,, a bit puerile and really not needed or not as much ,,, there also a how I would imagine an 16 or 17 year old would write them.
I skip passed these as there ,,, just irrelevant to an otherwise good idea storywise.
.
The first couple of sexual descriptions in the first book were,, a bit creepy if im honest too.
I was at one point going to turn off but I thought,,,ive heard worse,, lets see where this is going.
If this is what the author was aiming for in some parts of the book ,, I cant really say without giving some of the parts of the book away ,, then it worked, creeped out and slightly uncomfortable.

I would like the Author to maybe take the writing out of the juvenile stage and onto being written in a grown up adult way.
It wouldnt take that much which would make the continuing Missy storys more compelling.

Pro's

There good and entertaining if you can get passed some of the previous subjects and they have kept me reading / listening.

For someone who has over 500 plus books on there Kindle alone and over 4000 books in my collection ,, I dont suffer poor reads well but enjoyed these for what they were.

Hope this helps.

A brilliant and gritty coming of age story

If you could sum up Missy the Werecat in three words, what would they be?

Great pace
Werecat
Original

What did you like best about this story?

This is not the typical shifter paranormal story, she has no pack, no-one to learn from or relate too. She needs to figure out everything herself. It's not just about being a Werecat but about learning how to be a young woman with unique and special abilities and how to best use those for herself and others.

Which character – as performed by Meghan Kelly – was your favourite?

Missy. She is a very complex character and she is very likeable. Strong but not too much so that it makes her untraceable.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

What would you do if you turned into a Werecat. Where would you go?

Fun story

The story was fun but unfortunately I did not enjoy the narration. The narrator 's voice did not fit with how I imagined the characters and I found it distracting.

This could have been a good novel

I listened to the first part of what could have been a decent novel. I then downloaded second part, around 20% was a repeat of what happened in the first episode. I don’t appreciate being manipulated into buying parts of a book. There are several annoying phrases such as “right” at the end of every other sentence. The sex scenes were uncalled for, uncomfortable & in no way added to the story. I will skip the rest of this light weight attempt to sell bits of what could/should have been a good read.
