About this listen

The next instalment in the gripping Armstrong and Oscar cozy mystery series set in gorgeous Tuscany - it's murder in paradise!

A tragic accident?

When Italy’s greatest opera singer, Rodolfo Argento, is killed in a terrible car accident, the police initially rule his death a tragic accident or suicide. But his elderly mother, Violetta, believes this to be poppycock! Her son was a brilliant driver and had too much to live for. She suspects foul play and turns to Private Investigator, Dan Armstrong to discover the truth.

A cheating spouse?

So Dan and Oscar travel to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, to find out what really happened. There Dan discovers Rodolfo’s private life could have come straight out of a Shakespeare play. Although now happily married, Rodolfo was a man with a reputation to rival Casanova, his past strewn with heartbroken women. Could his death have been a star-crossed lover determined to get revenge?

A family feud?

Or does the truth lie much closer to home? With his large inheritance still to be settled, the motive for Rodolfo’s murder could simply be greed. As Dan searches for suspects while staying at the Argento Opera Academy (where people randomly launch into operatic arias.) life for Dan is complicated by the fact that Oscar has a habit of joining in with the singing…

Can Dan solve the case before he and his tone-deaf dog get thrown out?

A gripping new murder mystery series by bestselling author T.A. Williams, perfect for fans of Death in Paradise, Lee Strauss and Beth Byers.

Love these cosy murder mysteries

I do enjoy these books. Cosy stories and love all the references to Italy. Felt this one was a bit drawn out but I enjoyed it just the same. Just what I was in the mode for.

Good description

Always a treat. I enjoy all the Oscar’s stories. Well thought out and written. There is only one big bare and that is ageism to retrial aged women, and to the protagonist. I don’t see myself as a grey haired, wrinkled old lady at 69.

Comfortable murder story

Another soothing murder. Doesn’t stretch one’s imagination, like slipping into a comfortable pair of slippers. Don’t mean it in a bad way, a lovely murder to Cody up to . Not vulgar or violent, still learnt a fair amount about Italy, food , city and this time opera.

Top marks

Another really good and enjoyable book featuring PI Dan Armstrong & his wonderful black labrador Oscar.
I highly recommend this series & if you read or listen then start with book 1 and read in order so that you get the full story about each character and experience.
Excellent narration by Simon Mattacks.
Here’s hoping for another instalment.

The best yet 😁

Wow.....🎉 And, Opera too ❤️ So enjoyed the twist and turns and the setting, was perfect. Have read this series in order and enjoyed everyone of the books. Such a fabulous author and so beautifully thought through. The character, the settings and the total confusion of 'who dun it'. You never know until the very end, for sure. Valencia, is my personal favourite.... so far 🎉

An enjoyable listen

Another fun instalment in this light-hearted detective series, although I do find the descriptions of meals and endless stops for ice cream to be getting a little tedious. However, it's described as "An Armstrong and Oscar Cozy Mystery" and that's exactly what you get.
