About this listen

Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor and his retinue are believed dead, and with shadowy forces moving against them, they'd like to keep it that way. Returning to the planet Eustis Majoris, they go undercover, investigating a brutal ring of smugglers moving stolen arcane technology within the Imperium.

As they descend deeper into the organisation, it becomes clear that a terrible plot is unravelling. The ancient machines contain the unthinkable, and Ravenor must summon all of his wits to thwart the conspirators before the ultimate secrets of Chaos itself are laid bare!

Another brilliant read/listen

A great sequel to Ravenor, that manages to be an excellent and compelling story in its own right, without feeling like the second book in a trilogy - despite being one.

Great character development, a thrilling plot that continues to unfold, and plenty of nail biting moments. As ever, Toby Longworth dues a brilliant job of bringing Dan Abnett's fantastic novel to life. Highly recommended.

if you're this far into the series...

you'll definitely like it. Abnett and Longworth are a match made in the warp

great story, colourful characters.

strange nasally voices used to portray some prominent characters which I found distracting.
In most characters there were some variation in accent however a few important ones were just really odd, still worth the listen.

Loved it

The inquisitor books have always been good but this book is truly fantastic. Spot on pacing builds a great story filled with interesting characters and developments. Highly recommended

Best I've heard so far

Dan has a tedency to end his books a bit quick. Not the case here.
His ending i feel are normally a bit rushed compared to the rest of the story. It is a bit so here but tge story has a better reasoning why this time in my opinion still love his books

Well written good pace

it's a rip roaring tale and I will read more. However all the female characters sound like the Wicked Witch of the West which is a shame because for a "male genre" and from a male author the girls are great ...I am a girl and I liked them particularly Maud and Kys.

Black Library's finest author delivers again

Fantastic tale from start to finish, masterfully narrated by Toby Longworth, another master of his craft.

Just brilliant!

I'm yet to find a Dan Abnett book I dislike. He creates fantastic imagery through his vivid descriptions and whirling, yet not exhausting, action. His dialogue is excellent at both advancing the plot and shaping the readers connection with his characters. Truly a book to be enjoyed by all, not just lovers of 40K or Sci -Fi

Excellent

This will have you hooked from beginning to end. Of course it helps immensely if you have finished the Eisenhorn books beforehand.
