About this listen

Michael McCann has a gentle way with women, and Timona Calverson is no exception, despite her ragged clothes. Though Timona may be no more than a mysterious woman, Michael is determined to keep her from harm, if only for one night. Timona can't bring herself to tell him who she really is - or that her rich family will pay handsomely for her return. She knows very little about Michael McCann, except that he is good enough to give his last cup of tea to a stranger, and compassionate enough to own the ugliest dog on earth. But the rugged Irishman's unexpected kindness has won her wayward heart - now and forever.

Amusing and witty

Not earth shattering but a lovely story neatly put together- the narrator had a dreadful Irish accent but persevere and see beyond the voice to the character

I absolutely adore the woman reading the story. The book was ok. A good listen while working on a crochet project

Great story telling

I loved this book with its different twists. I could identify with the main characters. Even the sub characters are good.

Fun story, but hardly believable

The beginning was promising, but soon got disappointed, had to push myself through.
But I did like the end (some twist and action), so giving full 3 stars ✨

Started off

Started off well but became pedantic. I didn't bother to finish. The narrator did well

Totally unexpected cross cultural tale

Cross Cultural, cross class and cross country historical romance. Very enjoyable and quite unlike the English historical romances that I have usually read.

Both parties are from the UK, but he is Irish and she is English. He’s Working Class and she’s Upper Class. They meet in New York City, where he’s now a policeman and she’s visiting with her Archeologist father.

Their route to romance is an interesting one, involving many of the neighbourhood characters (especially street ‘urchins’), all of whom are interesting and add depth to the story.

I really like the lead characters, and am intrigued by Griffin (her brother), whom I believe is the focus of the next instalment.

Lovely

Loved the twists and turns of this one. Unlikely, yes. Romantic, also yes! The narrator was fab too and was great at all the different accents. Think I will try the next one in the series
