What is the mysterious link between the kidnapping, the salvage of a sunken 16th-century Spanish warship and the secret activities of its wealthy discoverer?
As the trail of wreckage and mayhem intensifies, Ben soon uncovers a web of intrigue, corruption and brutal murder.
But will he be too late to find Brooke alive?

Invincible
The invincible Ben Hope who lives on coffee and little sleep goes into action again.
A good action packed thriller and storyline takes you everywhere.
I didn’t like the narration as Brooke now has an American accent which is all wrong.
Characters accents kept changing spoiling the listening pleasure.
ONLY COLIN MACE can narrate the Ben Hope series
Do not use different narrators when a character has a series going.

Another great instalment in this series.
Another fantastic instalment in the Ben Hope series. However, my only criticism, is that in each book prior to this one, Brooks had an English accent. Yet all of a sudden, she has h BJJ developed an American accent! That’s the fastest transition of anyone ever losing their accent in history! Besides that, absolutely fantastic story and well read, apart from the cock up with the transition from Home Counties English to American in the space of one book.

Another superb story. Although Brooks American accent was a bit off putting. Hope it goes back to British.

A page turner with brains
What did you like best about this story?
It's got plenty of action, adventure and myriad destinations and backdrops. The characters are well drawn out (not only the protagonist but those around him, and the female characters are believable too). Dialogue is noticeable for lacking any jarring clunkiness. It's a good old yarn that doesn't leave the reader feeling patronised.
What about Jack Hawkins’s performance did you like?
Narration is good. Hawkins suits the main character while giving the supporting cast their respective due.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yep, though I actually did it in two
Any additional comments?
I'd say if you like the urban adventure and brawls of a Simon Kernick and enjoyed The Rule of Four you've come to the right place.
If Desmond Bagley was writing today I reckon he'd be creating something like this.

Excellent story...
Another excellent action packed adventure for our hero Ben Hope. Top marks.
However, bottom marks for the narrator whom spoiled things by firstly giving Brooke an American accent, & then on more than one occasion managing to confuse the accents of several other characters too. I struggled with this narrator on the previous audiobook, but it was much worse in this book. I just don’t think JHawkins was suitable for these adventures.

Mixed feelings
Book brilliant story brilliant narrator rubbish , jack Hawkins making Brooke have an American accent made me cringe some of his other accents were poor , I love Scott Mariani books so wanted to hear the story to the end but that’s the reason for 4 stars on overall.

Accents
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book because it's a good story if you want to list to something not too taxing, and it's skips along at a decent pace most of the time - the hero is also flawed enough to be believable.
What did you like best about this story?
A good easy read, plot works well enough, the characters are clear cut and mostly believable.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Narration good apart from a problem with accents. I like Jack Hawkins but he cannot do Spanish (the Peruvian speaks with a French accent) and he has a limited number of 'voices' to cover all the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No
