Summary

Lisa Quinn has a boyfriend: Sean Knight.

She is just 16 years old, and he is her first. He's handsome, and, with his charm, he wins over her usually overprotective parents.

Yet there is a dark side to Sean.

When Lisa's parents go away on vacation, Sean's dark side emerges, and he viciously attacks her over a two-day period, sending pictures of his work to someone he calls Jay.

Lisa's life is turned upside down, and her allies are few and far between. Luckily, she has a close friend to confide in.

When her parents return from vacation, Lisa seems like a different person.

They say revenge is a dish best served cold.

How well do we really know the people in our lives? Do we truly know which way their moral compass spins?

Monsters come in all shapes, sizes, and guises. Is there such a thing as a hero? In this novel, as in life, even the good guys have deeper shades of grey.

Wow! Gripping, thrilling and horrifying!

I really enjoyed this book. Some parts are difficult to read/listen to due to the fantastically vivid writing while other parts are extremely satisfing. The audio book was well read and kept me listening, I finished it in 3 days.

Very good but there are trigger warnings……

I’ve had this book on my TBR list for quite a while after seeing it mentioned regularly on a FB book group I’m in.
Due to me preferring audiobooks to reading proper books I had put it off.
When I discovered it was now available as an audiobook version I purchased it straight away.
I’m not sure saying I enjoyed it is really the best term due to the nature of the book but it definitely kept me gripped and I finished it within 24 hours.
There’s trigger warnings for S.A. and violence but it’s not too graphic IMO.
I am glad I’ve managed to finally listen to it and I would definitely recommend this book.
Had me gripped and very easy to get into.

Gripping story

Firstly id like to thank D.E McCluskey for providing me with an audiobook of this gripping story to listen to and review .
I have devoured this book within the last couple of days . It had me at the edge of my seat . Fantastic narration and absolutely brutal at times . So many twists and turns . A great listen and one I won't forget in a while

Seriously?

Ok. So first off I will say I'm not talking about any of the abuse depictions in this book. Domestic violence is a horrible issue, and it totally $100 needs to be out there so people can get help! This review has nothing to do with that part of it. But onto the aftermath, I think the reaction of one character was way over the top, I'm not sure parents would ever go that far. Completely innocent people paid the ultimate price for someone else's actions, that sickened me if I'm honest. Yes, I didn't see the cruel twist at the end, which it turned out was staring me in the face the whole time, but I won't be reading it again. I really disliked the parent who acted for a lot of reasons. It got to a point where I was just as angry at him as with the origenal attacker. Lastly, why is this narrated by a British narrator when it's clearly set in America, given the fact the word 'vacation' is used several times and all the characters are American? Yes he could do the accent to an extent, but you could tell he was British, should've been read by an American I think if the author seriously wanted to get his point across.
