No one is good enough for her son…

As a single mother, Annie has an especially close relationship with her son, Ben. They have always been together. Just the two of them. So, when Ben brings home his mysterious beautiful new wife, Daisy, immediately Annie doesn’t trust her. Who is this woman who has taken her son away from her? And what is she hiding?

She’ll protect him with her life…

When Ben disappears, suddenly Annie and Daisy are all the other one has. Alone in Annie’s big, remote house, just the two of them, the tension is rising. And like any protective mother, Annie will stop at nothing to expose her new daughter in law, and the secrets she is hiding…

Sexist

This book was ok, in so much as it had a truly weird and hateful mother in law. However I found much of the premise obnoxious: the male-worshipping culture in which a woman’s (all women apparently) is only worth living if there is a child or a man, all the obsession and descriptions of a fabulous man to the complete exclusion of any other thoughts, ideas etc a woman might have about life. And then, of course, the perennially irritating practise of referring to ‘fire men’ when, in fact, there are many wives and mothers who are also superb fire fighters: the adopted nomenclature within the brigade which, in fact, does not permit the sexist and outmoded term ‘fire man’. As for this great idea of the bond between mother and son that is, again, just glorifying the birth of the male child vs a female baby. As a former fire fighter and a mother of both a girl and a boy I found the whole thing pretty obnoxious.

Oh the angst

This book is okayyyy ....the story is quite good but not amazing. The performance
voices though were so angst ridden that they lost definition and became monotonous...the voice of Jenny being the only light relief at times.
I got this on daily deal so didn’t waste a credit but had I used a credit I would’ve been very disappointed

great story

I enjoyed listening to this book. The book I felt was rather predictable but it was still very enjoyable, and there was a plot twist that was unexpected. I would definitely recommend it

Long winded.

Would any woman really be so thick to not realise what’s happening to her. Would any husband allow their mother to treat them this way? Ridiculous story. Don’t bother.

The Daughter in law

It was an enjoyable listen, at times a little too overly descriptive. I guessed the twist early on. My first by this author, I will look at her other work.

ENJOYED

Enjoyable, twisted, very clean of any unnecessary adult content for those who don't like it. Highly recommend it

Poorly narrated

The story was ok, if a little predictable. The two narrators were not great to listen to. They started off as strong characters then became rather pathetic and whiny.

Enjoyed this book overall. Predicted the plot but still really enjoyed. Easy to follow, not a difficult read.
