About this listen
The first time you meet someone, you make eye contact. You smile, say hello. Should be simple, if you're anyone but me.
The first time I met Dylan Reed, I found myself making eye contact with a different part of his body. You see, I'm very good at being shy, not to mention extremely well-versed in rambling nonsense and, unfortunately, rather highly skilled at making a fool of myself in front of a guy I'm attracted to. At the time, I knew nothing about him and thought none of what I said would matter since I'd never speak to him again. Turns out, I was very wrong.
He was the star wide receiver of the football team, one of the few players expected to make it into the NFL, and I ended up seeing him all over campus. I might have also propositioned him, run away from him, attacked him with a cooking utensil...and...uh, maybe I shouldn't tell you all of it. It's pretty normal stuff, things you'd expect...from me.
Eventually, the time came when I couldn't hide anymore - not that he'd have let me even if I tried. Before now, he never knew I was secretly watching him. Now that we see each other every day, he knows when I have a hard time looking away. It doesn't help that I'm not the most subtle person in the world either. He smiles at me and tells me he finds me fascinating because of my quirks. I can't even tell him that I think my heart beats differently whenever he's around.
He thinks we're going to be best friends. I think I have a big thing for him, and the more I get to know him, the more I don't care that I'm not allowed to be his friend, let alone fall for him. The thing is, that's exactly what I'm doing - what we're doing, I think. Falling. Hard.
Contains mature themes.

main male character voice
MMC when doing female voice sounds like a Simpsons character and totally takes you out of the story.

the book ok, the male reader not
Love how the author made them meet and everything that followed. It's an easy listen and a cutie story.
I'm not a big fan of the male reader. His female voice is a letdown. He has a very deep voice, and sometimes the transition was not clear and had to rewind to ensure that the female character had the line.

defo a solid 4 star
First off..if you read this.. not everything is what it seems with Zoe and the Coach ! I nearly DNF'D it ..but I carried on and it was worth it !
This is a wholesome, slow burn college romance between Zoe x Dylan. They first meet in Zoe's freshman year at a party and they didn't even exchange names, and then they'd bump into each other on and off over 3 years... but he was always looking for her...
💕sport romance (american football)
💕strangers to friends to lovers
💕slow burn
💕forced proximity- roommates
💕Cinnamon roll MMC
💕he fell first
💕dual POV
❌️ downside... MAJOR miscommunication!! the bain of my existence!
❌️another downside... the actual audio book... while the narrators were brilliant choices for the characters.. the make narrator when he doesnhis female voice was awful ! This is why DUET audios are better
⚠️TW - side character gets raped (off page)⚠️

A cute college romance
This was my first book by the author. It's a slow burn, roommates to friends to lovers, college sports romance. It's told in 1st person dual POV with dual narration.
I usually don't read college romance cos I find the characters a bit too immature, but someone on bookstagram managed to convince me to read this book with just the first line 😂🙈. I was in the mood for feel good vibes, and this book delivered. I loved Zoe's awkward ramblings, it was so cute, and I think the male narrator did a great job of acting it out. I think both narrators did a good job bringing the story to life.
There's a lot of family drama, which made things interesting and the side characters added depth to the story. If you're looking for an cute, easy listen, I'd definitely recommend giving it a listen. Check the content warnings though, Even though this book is mostly upbeat, it also adresses some heavy topics.

Great college romance
Really enjoyed the story however it was quite slow to start and at times waffling. Although when I got into it, couldn’t put it down.

Decent college romance
3.5 stars. As far as a college romance goes, this is a good one. It was a little slow getting to the relationship stage, but I don’t mind a build up to a relationship as it makes it feel more real by the end. The story picked up pace by the end and I got more interested in the story. It had the typical lack of communication drama which gets a bit annoying in romance stories. I had just listened to ‘To hate Adam Connor’ by the same author, which was great, but this book didn’t live up to that unfortunately. I’ll definitely listen to more by this author though.
