About this listen
Born on September 15, 1789, in Burlington New Jersey, James Fenimore Cooper was later to become the first successful American novelist. After studying at Yale, Cooper married and lived as a landed gentleman. In 1820 his first novel "Precaution" was published. As a conservative defender of American values, he wrote many social and political satires and finally became famous for his "Leather-Stocking Tales" and especially for his novel "The Last of the Mohicans". James Fenimore Cooper died on September 14, 1851, at Cooperstown, New York.
Hayward Morse has appeared in innumerable stage, radio, TV and film productions in the United States, Britain, Canada and Europe. Successfully working at London's West End, he later received a Tony award nomination for his performance in "Butley" on Broadway. Very experienced with recording Audio Books, Heyward Morse shows his theatrical grandeur in playing different characters, credibly and most impressingly.
