AN ANCIENT SWORD. A LONG BURIED SECRET.
ONE MAN WILL UNCOVER THE MYSTERY.

It’s Christmas, and on a trip back to the UK to try to sort out his stormy personal life, ex-SAS soldier Ben Hope runs into two old friends. Simeon and Michaela were once his fellow students at Oxford – now they are the Reverend and Mrs Arundel.

Ben senses that Simeon is deeply troubled and frightened, but before the truth can emerge about his secretive research project concerning a mysterious, ancient ‘sacred sword’, both he and Michael are wiped out in a devastating road crash. Convinced that his friends’ deaths were no accident, Ben is propelled on a global quest to unlock the enigma of the sacred sword. At every step, he is pursued by ruthless agents of the sinister organisation that will stop at nothing to acquire it.

In the course of his investigations, Ben will discover an incredible secret, not just about the history of Christianity but about his own past.

The Ben Hope series is a must-read for fans of Dan Brown, Lee Child and Mark Dawson. Join the millions of readers who get breathless with anticipation when the countdown to a new Ben Hope thriller begins…

Great Story

I've liked Scott Mariani and have loved following the adventures of our hero Ben Hope since I found The Alchemist's Secret in a local bookshop in 2009 (I think)! A really good read. Cannot wait for more...

Finding this narrator hard work ...

Action packed story with the enigmatic ex SAS Major Benedict Hope. Unfortunately I really struggled listening to this narrator... although he was perfect in portraying Jude ... I had to rewind a few times and also noticed either sentences finished oddly or the editing was off - not sure which. I did persevere until the end but I did find it a struggle compared to the previous narrators of SM’s audiobooks. Obviously it’s a personal thing.

Finding out he has a Son

Enjoyable as ever. I enjoy reading his books except they don't always match up listening & reading. Sometimes your on chapter 52 & it's reading chapter 51 this also in other books as well.

The Sacred Sword..

Another globetrotting action adventure with Ben Hope. This time hes present when some old friends are killed in a car accident. It soon becomes apparent that they were murdered, and Ben soon finds himself on the hunt for a secret that his friend has helped keep hidden, and one that a secret organisation are hellbent on getting their hands on. Some interesting twists to the developing back story too.
I'm really enjoying the Ben Hope series, and can't wait for the next instalment.
Good narration from Jack Hawkins.

Let down by poor Narrator.

Another great story but seriously let down by the narrator, who I found unbelievable in his characterisation. Ben Hope does not sound like a tough ex special forces operative. Too camp for my liking. Also, many of the other characters sounded very similar. Please use the original guy or someone similar in the future.

Another gripping tale of Ben Hope

Mariani yet again blends historical intrigue with an up to the minute action plot and well developed characters. Another great listen.

Stories are getting a bit over the top

I enjoyed this, but these books are getting more fanciful. Our hero, Ben, is a likeable character, but really,he does have the luck of the devil which helps him to get out of impossible scrapes.

I'll have a break before reading any more, as I say, enjoyable overall, but one really does have to suspend belief when reading these novels.

The narrator has changed from Colin Mace to Jack Hawkins, the new reader was good, but I have become used to Colin Mace so prefer his narration.
