About this listen
My boss's secret daughter was never mine to lose. But I lost her anyway. Violet Holt might bend with the wind, but she'll never break.
At least, that's what I used to think. Now I'm not so sure. The men who abducted her didn't break her. Nor did the days she spent as their captive. It was my deceit that did it. Now that she's gone, my heart barely beats. The only thing keeping me going is vengeance.
I vowed to make the men who hurt her suffer. And I plan to do just that, and win her back in the process.
The only question is, can I do both? **Unexpected Heroine is the part two in the Unexpected Trilogy. This is the continuation of Tomer and Lettie's love story. This trilogy is also a part of the larger Redleg Security Series. This book should not be listened to as a stand-alone. However, the Unexpected Trilogy can be listened to on its own, outside the rest of the Redleg Security Series if you so choose (but it's better as part of the complete series).

It had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, feeling all the feels.
Letty & Tomer both have so much trauma that they have to work through and heal from, and it looks so bleak for each of them at times.
Tomer is breaking, letting his repressed emotions from his trauma get the best of him. He is worried he will lose Letty & Big Al.
Letty is working through so much trauma, she is forced to find out just how strong she is, how far she can bend before she breaks.
The thrëāt level is red, the whole Red Leg family is in dānger and Tomer is doing everything he can to keep them safe, keep Letty safe & track down the entire list of suspects.
I can’t wait to see how they handle the chaos and see Letty & Tomer finally get their HEA.
Aaron Shedlock & Kelsey Navarro Foster both did a phenomenal job bringing this action packed story to life.

🎧📚🎧 Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Foster's outstanding performance continues voicing and portraying these characters perfectly. They are naturals in their roles, a perfect fit, as if the roles with them in mind. Kelsey aced it as Lettie, grasping all sides of her personality, her southern charms and handled her witty dialogue with ease, as well as her almost inner dialogue, those did I say that out loud type moments. Aaron’s Tomer is wow worthy, also grasping every aspect of his personality, his insecurities, his battles with his inner demons, his fierceness and possessive protectiveness. Both were just as amazing performing the roles of all the secondary characters, too. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a performance that elevates this already brilliant story to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Once again Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Foster have done an incredible job as Tomer and Lettie. Some of the scenes are emotionally heavy and they nailed the emotion every single time.

I was soo excited when I finally received the audio arc for Unexpected Heroine, especially after the cliffhanger from the last book. Well, perhaps excitement isn’t the right word considering all that happened at the end of the previous book. More so I was itching to see how Lettie (and Tomer’s) story would go, given that ending. This book practically picks up from the events from the last book. Tomer/James has now rescued Lettie and although she is now physically safe, she has been through a lot and has so much to work through emotionally and mentally. Add in all the secrets that Tomer is keeping and you have soo much tension within the story. From the previous book, we know that they possess an amazing connection, and their chemistry is just undeniable. However, with everything going on, can their connection survive it all?
I can’t say too much without risking spoiling both the previous book, as well as this book. What I can say is that this book was soo emotional, soo heartbreaking. So much was experienced and even though it was all very intense, I could not look away. There are soo many triggers within this one so I advise sensitive readers to be careful. But even with all the difficulty that they experienced (and I experienced reading/listening), I was even more invested in Tomer and Lettie, both as individuals, as well as a couple in this one. I really, really loved them and just needed them to have their happy ending!
At this point, I would read anything Jackie Walker writes because the woman KNOWS HOW TO WRITE!!! The way she weaved in the characters, their emotions, their backstories, and all the build-up, it’s all just… chef’s kiss. 🤌💋 The character development was also not lacking; we got to know both of our MCs even more in this book, and they themselves got to know each other even more and come together, specifically in this post-traumatic time. As I’ve already mentioned, I really loved both characters. Lettie throughout showed immense strength, persevering through all the trauma she suffered. Tomer’s backstory was also heartbreaking but helped shape him into the very kind-hearted teddy bear that he is now. And of course, there is no lack of steam between Tomer and Lettie. And just like with the other books within the series, I was entertained by the suspense aspects within the story. And even with all the seriousness and levity within the story, Jackie Walker was still able to sprinkle in some light-heartedness through some witty banter. This book was really great to experience. I cannot wait to get to the next book and see more of Tomer and Lettie.
Narrated by Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Foster, they nailed Tomer and Lettie’s characterisation perfectly! All the emotions were there, from happiness, rage, fear, worry, anxiety, insecurity, etc, they portrayed it all soo wonderfully! I truly felt like I was in this world, almost like the characters themselves were telling me their own stories. That’s how immersed I was from their voices. They truly brought the characters and their stories to life.
4.5 Stars!

I listened to the audiobook and the almost 20 hours flew by.
Once immersed in the story, I found it hard to pause the audiobook.
This was partly due to the author's writing style, which is wonderful, light-hearted and humorous. On the other hand, it was due to the deeply developed and likeable characters Tomer and Lettie.
The story is very intense, but really good. It is told alternately from the point of view of Tomer and Lettie. There are flashbacks to Tomer's childhood, that made me sad.
His childhood was anything but happy and carefree.
After the events of the last book, they both try to put their lives in order. Lettie is glad that she survived and she is an incredibly strong woman. She is very tough and knows what she wants. Tomer, on the other hand, hasn't told her or her father the truth and the longer he waits, the more difficult it becomes and he doesn't know how either of them will react. In the end, his father may be right when he claims that no one will love him.
Will Tomer manage to save his relationship with Lettie? And not upset his boss at the same time?
And then there are the criminals who have kidnapped Lettie. The hunt is on!
The story scores with lovable characters, heartfelt emotions and plenty of suspense!
Lettie is open-hearted and I loved her from the start. She also fights against the demons of her past and her present.
The chemistry between the two is fantastic, you can feel it straight away.
The book is pretty much perfect for my reading tastes. If you like a mix of great characters, romance, drama, charming humor, exciting suspense, lots of emotion, mystery and hot scenes, this is the book for you.
The audiobook was narrated by Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Foster and they are a perfect choice and nailed it put of the park. They portrayed the two protagonists brilliantly. They made me as a listener experience every little emotion. Be it passion, insecurity, warmth, happiness, anger or fear, they portrayed it all perfectly and brought the story to life. Brilliant job! I love Joe Arden's voice. It was a pleasure to listen to the two of them!
I can't wait for the next volume and I'm really looking forward to the book and am very excited to see what happens next!
I love this series!
