I fled Boston and my cheating jerk of an ex with $300 and a lip gloss in my pocket. Waking up the next day in Burlington, Vermont, with a crick in my back and a frozen ass wasn't exactly in the plan. If there was one. Which there wasn't. Story of my life.

Three hours later and I've been hired as temporary help in the local veterinary and grooming clinic, which is kind of impressive since I know zip about animals and even less about grooming. But one thing I do know - I'm crushing hard on the sexy, absentminded vet for whom I work.

My life is a hot mess. The last thing I need is another relationship. Emmett pushes all my buttons, but he isn't out. He's overwhelmed with a business to run and a son to look after and the kind of domestic life I never thought I wanted.

These two MCs were drawn to each other from the start Tia was running from a control freak of an ex and Emmett was widower for 4 years with a small son this story is full of humour emotion and heartache with a little angst. Usally like Iggy as narror but his Kiwi accent !!! enjoyed it more when Gary and Iggy had solo parts but when they were using two accents it just did not work that didn't stop me enjoying this V&V romance.

The character of Tai is brought to life by an incredibly talented narrator, who creates a tangible character who took me from screaming with laughter to just wanting to hold him until he healed. This is definitely one of my favourites of the series 🥰

I really enjoyed the book. The storyline was good and I liked the characters. Narration was interesting. Gary Furlong was good though I found his American accent a little annoying. If you're from any other country you'll probably be fine with it. Had he narrated the entire book as someone suggested, I would have struggled to finish it. I found it funny how Iggy Toma's accents were bouncing around countries. He kept slipping up with the New Zealand accent, at times sounding English, which is funny because when he was supposed to have an English accent in a different book, he sounded like he was from Boston, Massachusetts. It hurt my ears. :) His accent would go from barely New Zealand to English and back in the same sentence. I almost started a drinking game based on how many times Iggy Toma dropped the accent but I would have fallen off my chair before the end. Anyway, aside from the American accent of Gary Furlong and the New Zealand accent of Iggy Toma, I enjoyed the book very much.

I enjoyed this story very much. Great characters and not too much angst. One of the narrators had a bit of a dodgy New Zealand accent but it didn’t detract too much.

Um, OK I guess? Iggy Toma's attempt at a Kiwi accent was quite painful to listen to 🥴, and I just couldn't understand why both narrators insisted on saying Holloween instead of Halloween. Perhaps only 3.5 stars rounded up for the narration I'm afraid.

***Book Review***

Woohoo, I'm on a real roll with my 5 star reads at the mo. Yet another Jay Hogan read for my 2021 Best Reads shelf. I LOVED everything about Tai, Emmett and Leo. Great secondary characters too. Yes, the love that they found was fairly quick but seemed organic and genuine, and damn it all, didn't Emmett deserve some happiness after 4 years as a widower? Tai also needed time to discover himself and get away from the absolute control freak that was his former lover 😡. And let's not forget about Leo too...

Not one of the most exciting Vino Veritas book I’ve read, but a nice, slow romance which was easy listening. The narration was superb.

I love this authors books and have enjoyed a lot of the V&V books but this is not my favourite of hers. Whilst I enjoyed most of it I felt that the story could have been shorter, it felt padded out, mostly with their feelings about each other but there were interesting characters, I loved Ivy and Emmett’s son was a sweetheart.

I guess the overriding influence on my opinion of the book came down to the narration. I really loved Gary Furlong’s interpretation of the characters. He perfected the NZ accent laced with American and I found him funny as Tia. Iggy Toma, not so much! I’m sorry to say that every time he opened his mouth as Tai I cringed. How best to describe his interpretation of Tai, well it was like an older Jewish man that would have hints of London Cockney which would occasionally veer into Irish, sometimes Indian and often words pronounced like a South African would, and all badly! This spoiled my enjoyment of the book and if Gary Furlong had narrated it all I’m sure I would have enjoyed the whole experience a lot more.

This age gap, single dad, mm romance was lovely. There is grief (long time ago), cheating ex, cute animals, loyal friends, awesome kid, tension, and slow burn.
Very spicy, too (when it finally happened), and great narration.

Tai and Emmett's story is full of beautiful feels. Emmett is a widower with a son, and a total loss of libido, but when he comes across Tai, all bets, are off. These two are drawn to each other immediately, but the timing is off, as Tai isn't sure that he's ready to move on from an abusive ex. No spoilers ahead, but it can easily be read as a standalone, and it's a definite must read. It's classic Jay, full of emotion, richly written characters. Her character development is, as always, spot on.

It's well written, of course, is sweet, heart-breaking, humorous, entertaining, and beautifully romantic. So many feels.Tai is an utter delight, and is now up there amongst my favourite characters. The narration if this story is first class, I loved listening to the characters come to life. You will not be disappointed, very highly recommended.

What a lovely, heartwarming romance. Lovely characters and storyline peppered with some really hilarious parts.
HOWEVER........... Gary Furlong should have read the whole novel as he's brilliant with accents.
I'm afraid Iggy Toma was seriously beyond cringeworthy....(sorry Iggy....)
His supposed Kiwi accent was actually a mix between South African/ Cockney/ Irish/New York and a mini hint of Australian.
I've heard him narrate before and when he doesn't try accents he is great. It totally ruined what could have been another awesome book from the wonderful Vino and Veritas series
