Summary

Sophie Saunders has the perfect life. Happily married to handsome Matt and expecting her first baby, she is the envy of her childhood friend, Lou.

Lou's family has splintered. Her husband is dead and her son has left home. She would give anything to turn back the clock.

But there's a secret buried deep in their past that the two friends can never forget. And when Sophie's world starts spiraling out of control, it's her new friend Roz to whom she turns.

Trouble is, secrets have a habit of unraveling. And when they do, you can kiss your perfect life goodbye.

Sometimes, it's better when the truth stays hidden.

Sooo predictable!

Fun listen but practically every part of the storyline was predictable. I knew what the end would be within the first couple of hours. Was in the Plus catalogue so can’t complain too much!

Enjoyable listen but quite predictable

I found this an enjoyable listen. The narration was good but I found the main character unbelievably! I won’t go into details but I can’t imagine anyone behaving like she did or make the decisions she did.

Really good story with twists. I didn't excepted mush as it was a free audiobook but I was wrong and couldn't put it down until the end!

Okayish

It was an okay book - a few nice twists but nothing groundbreaking. The narration really got to me though. The pace was all wrong and often overacted and stilted.

Good listen

I enjoyed this story, a very twisted plot, but who knows what’s in another persons mind! Definitely not beyond reason,
Narration was okay, some voices not so well done and despite being set in Kent the local gardeners didn’t have a local accent, more Devonshire or Suffolk?

GREAT READ! EDGE OF SEAT ENDING!

Really enjoyed this. Kept your interest throughout with intriguing characters and enough red herrings to keep you guessing. McDine is a very accomplished writer, a debut for thriller but she writes in other genres, and clearly knows her stuff. The "pages" turned themselves and before you know it, you're at the edge of the seat ending. Great stuff!

Great freebie

This was good once it got going - it took quite a long time to get into. Some of the characters behave a little oddly and when one character says near the end “do you think xxx is a danger to Sophie?” It’s like um yeah as she’s just tried to kill you all. I’d say so.
Not sure about ending either

Kept my attention and wanted to carry on listening.

The story was good and held my attention. I quite like that the ending left room for a sequel. What will happen next?
I found the narration grating. So formal- like an elocution class, and when the two women were supposedly teenagers, they sounded like 7 year olds.
