About this listen
This one is a little different.
If you feel like the world forgot to prepare a spot for you, this is for you.
If you feel like you were born into the wrong timeline, the wrong culture, or on the wrong planet, this is for you.
If you’ve ever found yourself questioning your humanity and wondering if you are “something else”, this is for you.
If you feel like your life has been an endless quest for something you haven’t found, this is for you.
If you feel more aware of the pain, the suffering, the darkness, and the brokenness of the world, this is for you.
If you relate to these words, please know that I see you. That you aren’t anywhere near as alone as you feel. That there are others like you. Your pain is real and valid, even if nobody around you understands it.
You don’t have to hide anymore. You don’t have to keep wearing that brave face for everyone else’s benefit, even when it feels like you’re drowning inside. You can face the darkness head-on, and I can teach you how.
First, we have to identify the lies the world tells you and how to stop listening to them. There are six of them in particular that we hear over and over again:
- Everything is your fault
- You can’t change anything
- You're missing something
- What feels true is true
- You're not trying hard enough
- You aren't ready
Most people believe and align with these lies. You don't have to. If you learn how to recognize them and speak truth to them over and over again, they start to quiet down. This lets you be you again, instead of what the world tries to make you into.

If the title caught your attention, just get the book!
In a world saturated with self help books, this one is a true gem. I hope many, many more people discover it!
There are so many books that perfectly capture "the problem", the emotions, but offer no real solutions and books that offer a lot of dry advice. This book is different - like a combination of a big comforting hug from a dear friend who truly gets it and valuable, practical, insightful advice.

Like having a highly qualified best friend holding your hand.
I discovered Dr Scott on YouTube and found his nuggets of advice very honest and comforting. His book is every bit as good. Despite our greater acceptance of mental health issues - so many struggle with depression and personally I don’t think that it’s viewed as the awful soul crushing, life poisoning illness was that it is. Dr Scott is open about his own struggles and his advice is really like having a best friend by your side. I listened to the book once through - the reader is also excellent - and now I listen to it again every night. There are bits that sort of clanged in my head. The idea that you should like your life - not just struggle through it or find damaging ways to comfort yourself. It’s written in easily digestible sections that you can keep going back to. Highly recommend.

Fantastic read my new life begins today!!
Wow! I’ve just finished listening to the audiobook of this fantastic book! Dr Scott shared simple, straightforward advice on how to better understand mental health and how to incorporate strategies into my daily life in such a simple manner. You’d never know it wasn’t edited until the end!! He also shared things about his own struggles which was such a fantastic inspiration. I honestly feel like this is the first day of the rest of my life. I’ve just completed therapy while reading this book and I’ll be sending s copy to my therapist as a thank you gift. I have suffered with depression for 10 years now and finally I have hope!!
Well done!
And thank you Dr Scott.
