Struggling to Finish

Started off good, but I'm struggling with this one.

The narrator is putting me off. His normal male voice sounds like Brian from Family Guy, his female voice for Heather sounds like a female Jack Black.

The way the narration plays out Myers (main male character) is way too serious compared to everyone else who acts likes it's a vacation.

I'll try and get through this one.

I enjoyed the book, but

But, feel as though I’m being ripped off buying into the long-winded series. First one is free, great, but the other 6 books could have been edited into 3 books, which (imho) is acceptable.
Message to publisher: don’t be greedy.

Mind Provoking

Would you consider the audio edition of Invasion to be better than the print version?

I wouldn't know I have not read the print version

What was one of the most memorable moments of Invasion?

When the realization sets into the age old question "are we alone in the universe" is this real or just a nightmare??

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I always listen to the narrator of audio books because I think that they bring the storey to life and if their passion shines through, it makes it makes the storey a good listen and Ray Porter did that for me.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did have an emotional reaction because of my belief that there are other races out there and we maybe right at the bottom of the galactic pecking order.

I hope that Audible will soon get the next book in the series while the storey is still fresh in my head.

It’s, erm, it’s okay

It’s fine. It’s got some good character moments. But there’s a throughline of non-science weaved into the story which is difficult to get a bearing on. And a little too much “strong man saves the day”

Not sure if it was the narrator or the female char

They just really grated on me, not sure if it was the narrator doing the female voice badly or doing a shrill nasal voice perfectly but either way I listened about half way and lost interest.

Apocalyptic alien invasion of Earth yet again, but this time done much better!

This is a fantastic novel with great narration. The apocalyptic Alien invasion is a theme that recurs often, but somehow this one has been done better than most. My only criticism is that it was a bit short. That could just be because I'm used to reading epic novels now, but to be fair to the authors, this is a series and I already own the next two books.

Just this one

If you're going to listen to this book it's best to keep it to this one, it's the most interesting one and the other gets really boring after it and what makes it worse is the narrator changes to a guy that can only do one voice. it's so bad I realised I listened to a whole book and didn't hear a word. This one is good others not so much.
