About this listen
Are you too nice?
If you find it hard to be assertive, directly ask for what you want, or say "no" to others, then you just might be suffering from too much niceness.
In this controversial book, world-renowned confidence expert, Dr. Aziz Gazipura, takes an incisive look at the concept of nice. Through his typical style, Dr. Aziz uses engaging stories, humor, and disarming vulnerability to cut through the nice conditioning and liberate the most bold, expressive, authentic version of you.
You'll discover how to:
- Easily say "no" when you want to and need to
- Confidently and effectively ask for what you want
- Speak up more freely in all your relationships
- Eliminate feelings of guilt, anxiety, and worry about what others will think

I've had a rough time in a new job/industry over the last 8 months and my confidence has plummeted over that period of time. After trying a number of books, I was close to giving up on using a book to learn techniques to get my confidence back... then I saw this title... 'Not Nice'. The title shouted at me! Deep-down I've always had a 'too nice' element of me. Never so much that it made my confidence so low, but there's always been times when I've not spoken up when I knew I really should have... times when I knew if I spoke up, expressed my opinions then things would've been better... I thought "this could be a good listen!".
WOW! This has worked for me so well. It's impacted me so much. I'm not 100% back to where I was before my confidence dip, yet. But I'm now putting what I learnt in this book, into practice. And, by doing that, there's parts of me that are more confident than I've ever been before. And, the parts that I'm still working on? Well I can feel them coming back and I honestly think I'll soon be stronger in those areas than I've ever been before.
If you're having a confidence issue with work, friends, relationships etc, get this book. Invest the time in doing the activities, make the notes when Dr Aziz tells you to. Go through the whole thing at least once, then keep re-listening/re-reading the most pertinent bits for you. It will make I difference!
Disclaimer: my go-to book is '7 Habits of Highly Effective People'. That is my bible. 'Not nice' compliments that book so well. It feels like, parts of Dr Aziz's advice, is directly related to some of the habits... concrete examples of how to work within some of the amazing things you'll learn in 7 Habits. I don't know if that was intended, or just a subconscious influence, or neither? Nevertheless, nice work and thank you!
Amazing impact, within weeks!

I’m definitely going to implement changes in my everyday life and my interactions with the others.
Therefore - thank you to you Dr. Aziz.
Book if funny, personal and full of practical advice. Aziz voice is nice - definitely better than some “pros” narration I found on Audible ;-)
Really helpful material.
Thanks !
