Summary
In the peace and tranquility of the woods at Pinehills on a Saturday afternoon, a mobile phone begins to ring. The phone belongs to DC Smith, and it isn't unusual that the call is from Kings Lake Central police station; what is unusual is the fact that he seems to be the subject of an investigation rather than taking part in one. What can the links be between a prisoner's violent death in another county, the disappearance of two teenagers, and the highest profile case in Kings Lake for many years? Great.
The fourth in the Sargeant 'DC' Smith series. I am working my merry way through them. I have really enjoyed each one - I love DC's humour that comes through and the storylines are complex without being to hard hitting. The narration was first class again.

Great listen

Easy listening story
Really like DC Smith’s attitude and approach to policing. If all policemen applied his ways the force would have better PR I suspect.

Lovely Characters
I had never come across this author until dipping into the Audible Discover but now that I have, I shall definitely be reading more. Delightful characters, well written and involving. The narration is wonderful. Can’t wait to hear the next .

Best yet in the series
I’m already invested in the characters but this book in the series has a faster pace - particularly towards the latter stages and so was a better listen. I enjoy the sardonic humour which is perfectly narrated. Looking forward to the next book in the series
