New concept to me and makes 100% logical sense
Matthew's book introduced me to the concept of quiet quitting, the idea of doing just enough to maintain your job without overexerting yourself. This approach is completely counter to everything I've ever learned, yet it's something I can relate to. The book highlights how the extra effort and hard work in one's career may not always yield significant returns, suggesting it's time to step off the hamster wheel. I appreciated the personal story behind Matthew's change in work habits. His insights into disengaging from work are both beneficial and ethical, encouraging readers to prioritize their personal lives over work, which can actually enhance their careers. It's a great read and highly recommended.

A total rethink
My grandfather always used to say: ‘Dress me slowly, I'm in a hurry. It has taken me years to understand what he meant, and I think Mattew Hess masterfully sums up this concept in a fluid and easy to assimilate way. In the end it is all about balance and knowing how to slow down in time. This audiobook has helped me to rethink my priorities, to better distribute my efforts without ceasing to be efficient, to approach everything from the calm and I'm starting to see the results, both in my work and at home. I am happy, I think I am living better. I recommend it.

A Life-Changing Approach to Balance and Boundaries
While so many voices label this trend as lazy or disengaged, Hess makes an incredibly compelling case for why stepping back from relentless overwork is not only ethical but necessary for long-term success and personal well-being.
What I found most refreshing is how this book shifts the focus from overachievement to self-preservation, without compromising workplace productivity. Hess challenges the idea that you have to be constantly plugged in to excel at your job, showing that true productivity often emerges when we set healthier boundaries. As someone who has struggled with burnout, this concept resonated deeply with me—why should we wear exhaustion like a badge of honor when there’s a more sustainable path?
