Summary
Captain Ben Monroe has an ass made for touching, and a panty-dropping smile.
He's also my best friend's younger brother. And the worst mistake of my life.
Or maybe the best. It's hard to tell.
He was a blight on my childhood. A thorn in my side.
I haven’t seen him in years, And now he needs a place to stay.
What I didn’t expect was to find him naked in my kitchen, and he’s all grown up. But sisters before misters; I wasn’t supposed to look, let alone touch.
Soldier Boy is hot and hilarious best-friend’s-younger-brother romance, full of snark, banter, dirty talk, and smexy-times galore!

A fantastic listen
I had already read Soldier Boy when it was first released in print format. Long enough ago to know that I would enjoy revisiting the story on audible. Donna Alan’s writing style is inimitable and flows seamlessly. Her ability to develop characters and write endlessly entertaining banter translates beautifully into the audible format. The narrators fit the characters well. I find - particularly with British books - that this is often not the case and have DNF’d two audible books this year solely due to the way the narrators voice did not match the character written. Soldier Boy is a fabulous story - reverse age gap, best friend’s brother - full of spice and wit. I highly recommend it.

Very enjoyable
I loved this book when I read it and the audible version does not disappoint. The narrators are brilliant and portray Ben and Penny perfectly.

Great story well read
Ben and Nell (aka Penny), have known each other since they were children, but Nell wasn’t exactly fond of him then. Now he’s all grown up and boy what a change. Ben has always had a thing for Nell so when he needs a place to stay his sister, Nell’s BFF asks Penny to put him up - that’s when sparks fly!
Donna’s books are laugh out loud funny but also extremely hot 🥵. A great read with a twist at the end.

Very Enjoyable Listen!
Soldier Boy was my first Donna Alam book!
This was a light read that came with some great witty banter! Penelope "Penny" and Captain Ben Monroe were both delightful characters. I generally don't care for much internal monologue but Penny's thoughts and no filter of those thoughts at times had me laughing throughout.
Ben is a dirty talker and there were some hot sexy scenes in the kitchen and bedroom! I felt the pacing did jump some at the end - I thought I missed some part of the story and went back 2 chapters but nothing was missed and the story had just jumped in time. Maybe the ebook had a heading that didn't transfer to the audio ?? Overall, still a wonderful listen with an easy-going story that is perfect for in between those heavier books.
Narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Elliot Matthews - my first listen by Elliot Matthews and his voice is amazing! He gave us a great British accent and really drew me into his character of Ben. Maxine was fabulous as Penelope.

Enjoyable Listening Experience
'Soldier Boy' is an excellent story that had me engaged from the start. It's a 'best friend's brother' meets 'childhood-crush' romance, with lots of chemistry, brilliant banter, and with some vivid and entertaining characters. It is also a lighter and fun listen.
I loved the characters of Nell (Penelope) and Ben. As Nell's best friend's annoying younger brother, Ben is home on leave from the Army and looking to stay at Nell's for a few weeks. Nell has sworn off men after her disasterous engagement has ended and sees Ben as the annoying boy he once was when they were children...or does she!
This story had me hooked from the beginning. I thought the novel was an upbeat, entertaining listen, and the energy and frisson between the two main characters was amazing. I also adored the side characters who brought some comedic moments to the story. An unexpected twist at the end really added to the listening experience.
This is a complete standalone story, and I enjoyed the narration.
