About this listen
"Everyone has their price, Olivia."
"There isn’t enough money in the world to persuade me to marry you."
Beckett. Let me count the ways I loathe him.
- 1. He’s the bane of my existence.
- 2. A thorn in my side.
- 3. I’m pretty sure he’s the devil in disguise, or he at least has him on speed-dial.
So why am I standing here, bouquet in hand, about to become his wife? He calls it a business proposition. I call it blackmail.
He says our fighting is foreplay. I say he should be on meds. He says he has the power to destroy my company. I say with a husband like him, who needs enemies. But I can survive this six month calamity. All I have to do is keep hating him....

Romance
I loved the dual narration of Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright. They both brought out the humour and great characters.
Our characters Olivia and Beckett are in a marriage of convenience set in London. Olivia is strong-willed American woman with a struggling company, and Beckett is an the older, British financier. Olivia is looking for an investor to for her company , Beckett needs a wife for a business deal , so a deal is made. With a six months deadline.
This book is full of banter, sexy encounters. I loved the undeniable chemistry, the passion. Olivia and Beckett struggle with their attraction.

Bennett & Olivia!
Olivia and Bennett. What a couple! I was enamored from the start, laughing out loud and loving the banter. Olivia is on a mission to get an investor for her app, Evolve. Literally falling at the feet of Bennett and finding herself in several other chance meetings with their obvious chemistry has the wealthy investor proposing marriage for six months, guaranteeing her the funds to keep her company in the black. But will it last that long? Spicy, funny, playful and not so playful exchanges and all-around feel-good quality of this book had me completely engaged and rooting for them! Olivia is smart, but when it comes to her heart, she just doesn't know how to guard it. Bennett is completely frustrating, which is what makes him so endearing! And the variety of secondary characters added depth and character to the book. Donna Alam has a winner on her hands!
Making me laugh out loud, Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright use their versatility and give us a fabulous romantic comedy. East always delivers a great performance, and he becomes Bennett. A little arrogant and a little vulnerable, he is perfect. Cartwright has Olivia's sound exactly as I imagine her. She is smart, wears her heart on her sleeve and her comedic timing is spot on! Loved this listen!

Laugh out loud funny
Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright bring Bennett and Olivia to life. Mackenzie does a great English accent when required which makes great listening. Funny with great one liners I love Donna Alam’s books and this is one of the best.

Excellent narration, stand alone story
Mackenzie Cartwright and Shane East are rockstar narrators. They both did a fabulous job and I’m sure I liked the story more because I listened to it.
The book caught my attention quickly with some shared frustration about dating apps and enemies to lovers banter between Beckett and Olivia. This is the first book I've read/listened to by Donna Alam, but I'll listen to more in the future. To have and to Hate is the first book in a series, but it stands entirely alone.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request (and read in KU), and the opinions here are my own.

Sign me up!
Did someone say enemies-to-lovers, & marriage-of-convenience? Sign me up!
When Olivia’s dating app company is financial crisis, Beckett seems to be the only one that can help her. But help comes at a price! Specifically, Beckett proposes a 6-month marriage-of-convenience deal. In exchange, he will make all her financial problems go away! There’s just one big issue, Beckett is the devil in an expensive suit! Olivia and Beckett loath each other (or do they?😏)
“Oh, Beckett. Let me count the ways I loathe you. You’re the bane of my existence. A thorn in my side. And I’m pretty sure you’re the devil in disguise. Remind me again why I’m about to become your wife?”
This was an enjoyable read. I loved their interactions and their witty banter with each other! It was nice to see the growth these characters had throughout the book. And even though they tried to fight against their feelings for each other as this was supposed to be temporary arrangement, it was nice seeing their relationship progression. The chemistry was on point! 👌 and the book was soo steamy!🥵🔥
I do wish we could have gotten a little more insight into Beckett's past history. But, overall, the book was such a fun ride and was different take on the enemies-to-lovers trope!
Narrated by Shane East & Mackenzie Cartwright. Both narrators did wonderfully. They brought the characters and the story to life and made the reading experience (I guess listening in this case) even more amazing! Specifically, Shane East as Beckett… woow, just woow!

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 Witty & Entertaining!
This is my first book written by Donna Alam and she definitely has a new fan, I enjoyed her writing style and way with words, the back-and-forth banter is impressive and so is the plotting and pacing of the story which drew me in right from the start, and captivated my attention the entire book. Olivia Welland is looking to get her new company E-Volve off the ground, her friend Luke hooked her up with an appointment hoping to gain financial investors and she attracted one investor but he was not interested her company, E-Volve, he was interested in her. Beckett wanted to take over JBW himself, but he had to prove to the partners that he was worthy and no longer a partying playboy. He has a plan, and that is where Olivia comes in to play, she needs financial backing for her company and he needs a wife. Olivia was not happy with this plan, but her company was in trouble and something or someone had to give and that someone was going to have to be her. Wow, this is a fantastic enemies to lovers romance, the heat and chemistry between these two is sizzling hot and there is never a dull moment. The story has a perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Donna Alam, thank you for the wonderfully entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Mackenzie Cartwright and Shane East did an amazing job bringing these characters and story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, giving each a voice that suited them and was believable in every role they played. Cartwright’s Olivia was witty and sharp tongued as well as caring and loving. East’s Beckett was perfection too, both grasped all sides of their character’s personality. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These mega talented and versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

5+ Amazing Romantic Stars
i adored this audiobook. I thought the two main characters - Olivia and Beckett - were compelling, interesting, engaging and believable.
This was a first-class, enemies-to-lovers story, that was high on tension and great banter, and had an amazing electric chemistry between the two main characters.
This couple had an unconventional start to a romance which led into a fresh and exciting plot, that was witty and hilarious in places, had well drawn characters and backdrop, and a small ensemble who helped to make this a bubbly and absorbing novel.
This book is a complete stand-alone contemporary romance, told in dual pov. A definite read for those wanting high chemistry and heat, that also has a compelling and engaging story. Also, as a Londoner myself, the language and descriptions were spot on!
The narration was amazing. Shane East absolutely captured the roguish, smooth-talking essence of Beckett!
