Summary
The electrifying new thriller from the author of the word-of-mouth best-selling sensation The Wicked Girls, Alex Marwood.
No. 23 has a secret. In this bedsit-riddled south London wreck, lorded over by a lecherous landlord, something waits to be discovered. Yet all six residents have something to hide. Collette and Cher are on the run; Thomas is a reluctant loner; while a gorgeous Iranian asylum seeker and a 'quiet man' nobody sees try to stay hidden. And watching over them all is Vesta - or so she thinks.
In the dead of night, a terrible accident pushes the neighbours into an uneasy alliance. But one of them is a killer, expertly hiding their pastime, all the while closing in on their next victim.... As a cloying heatwave suffocates the city, events build to an electrifying climax in this dark, original, and irresistibly compelling thriller.

If your neighbour was a killer....
If you could sum up The Killer Next Door in three words, what would they be?
Keeps you hooked
Who was your favorite character and why?
Vesta, we can all mostly relate to Vesta, someone's mother, grandmother, friend
Which scene did you most enjoy?
The opening scene, it drew me in and kept me there until the end of the book
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes but I don't want to give the plot away but it relates to Cher the young runaway
Any additional comments?
The ending was a little frustrating with the author leaving you to make your own mind up about what happens to one of the key characters but I was hooked from start to finish. Very entertaining thoroughly enjoyed this work of fiction, more please!

More brilliant than I could have ever expected
I brought this book purely on the name and good reviews, I love murder mysteries and assumed this was one of those. I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't, in fact it's a book you cannot just categorise as one thing. I adore the characters and never have I experienced such a wonderful telling of the tale!!
Each character has a different accent, performed beautifully by Imogen, really bringing the characters to life. I think that if I read the book I might not have enjoyed it as much, the performance adds so much to its character. Unlike girl on the train where some of the characters voices are very harsh or wispy and annoying, the voices feel real and make it easy to distinguish who is who, something that can be hard with the amount of characters.
And the way the story takes you on a journey of the house through the experiences and back stories of the characters is just wonderful! There are so many interesting and confusing things about this book, I couldn't be more infatuated and pleasantly puzzled by its quirkiness, from beginning to end. It's disgusting, sad, hilarious, heart pumping and relaxing all at the same time. Couldn't recommend more

ok but wouldn't recommend to anyone.
the story started off quite well and there weren't too many characters that you get confused who is who. the reader was ok except I found the voice grating when she tried to do a man's voice. sounded like a young boy trying to sound like a man who's voice has broken. the end annoyed me though, seemed to fall abit flat and the social worker character was a joke and should have been left out. overall it was ok but I wouldn't recommend it.

Great psychological journey!
While I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, the characters & twists & turns, it was quite a trawl through social mores of those 'poor' in London. Poor because of circumstance, not laziness or lack of trying...
I would note that you should refrain from eating through a large part of this story... totally vomit-making in parts... lots of 'parts'.

I really enjoyed this book.
Where does The Killer Next Door rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I usually read crime thrillers and this is up there with the best I've read so far.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Cher was my favourite. I felt I understood the reasons she is the way she is.
Which character – as performed by Imogen Church – was your favourite?
All of them. Imogen Church's voice is easy to listen to. I felt sorry for Cher & Vesta when they spoke about themselves at certain parts but also cringed at the landlords voice - brilliant.
