Excellent

I have read the series of Bosch and now thoroughly enjoy his collaboration with Ballard. Looking forward to the next exploit. Titus Welliver and Christine Lakin brought the characters to life. Well worth a listen.

Raising the bar.

Outstanding performance of a brilliant book.I wish I had the words to do this audiobook justice, but whatever I say feels inadequate.
I’m a huge HB fan, I’m a cop in a completely different country yet somehow the writing identifies and portrays the types of personalities that you find in law enforcement.
Some of the conflicting attitudes, arrogance, determination and disinterest described are completely universal, yet somehow entirely unique to Harry and his partners.

Listen to this book, I’m sure you won’t disagree.

One of the best Bosch books!

This was one of the best Bosch books I read. Multiple stories come nicely to a conclusion. Great performance.

Firing on all cylinders

I like to say that Bosch books are built like a BMW - economical, sturdy prose with real torque which powers the protagonist through the cases, and keeps the reader holding on for dear life. I've been waiting for The Night Fire for nigh on 9 months, and true to form, I finished it in a single weekend. Bosch and Ballard are now in cruise control as a team, as are Titus Welliver and Christine Lakin as highly badass narrators. Connelly has a mastery over characters, of capturing human interaction in myriad ways, and the way in which the detectives use people and detect clues is truly a joy to follow. I am so happy that Bosch is still going strong, albeit with a new knee and cane, but as he said to his daughter in The Night Fire, 'Hey I'm gonna be around for a while.' All I can say is, hurry up with the next edition!!

Bosch and Ballard on Fire

Titus Welliver is Harry Bosch. End of. I know of no other voice actor who has so completely inhabited the skin and voice of a main character. He is beyond compare as Bosch, perfectly capturing what I hear in his gravelly, LA sun, sand and sin soaked world experience. And yet, he continues to fight the good fight despite the inevitable ageing process, a dodgy knee and a worrying earlier exposure to radiation that threatens to impact adversely on his health. I worry for Harry but I don't fear for him because he can handle pain and still get stuff done. Like dealing with night stalkers and peepers, gang bangers and jail birds, sleazy and corrupt lawyers, bent and sloppy police officers, lethal mafia hitters and other assorted LA and Vegas low life scumbags. Although his new unofficial 'partner' Ballard has been unfairly banished to the night shift aka 'the late show' she brings some welcome light to Harry's life and together they are a formidable team in this tightly plotted, well paced procedural. Connelly has not gone off the boil, he's at the top of his game and I hope he keeps up this extraordinary level of quality.

Excellent

I have a few favourite authors and characters and Harry has been on my list for many years, he never disappoints.

But to add Renee into his stories has worked so smoothly and she has become a character I like too. Its rare that a much loved character can get a partner so far down the line and it work so seamlessly.

I think as an author Michael C has made the best move, we can enjoy Harry far into his dotage now he has the younger Renee. I need him to live to at least 120 because I would miss him.

The stories never disappoint either, they aren't always as deep as some crime writers, but I love that, there are enough twists and turns to keep you glued, but not so much that you are going back to figure things out.

Purely enjoyable reading/listening.

I can't wait for the next.

Great story

The narrative is well crafted and the two story tellers work well and GoPro vide and excellent balance. The twists and turns in the story keep the listener on her toes and are credible in the developmemt of the whole plot.
An excellent listen.
