Summary

Written with wisdom, warmth, and clarity, this inspirational and practical handbook offers tools for overcoming problems and enjoying more fulfilling lives. Judy Tatelbaum contends that while hurt is inevitable in life, suffering is not. We cannot control our circumstances and tragedies, but we can choose how much we suffer over them. The author suggests "We can use powerful experiences like losses, illness, hardship, and disappointment as stepping stones to our own growth."

Very good book

The story is very engaging and helpful but the narrator's voice is very mechanic and monotonous, as if narrated by a robot.

Some good ideas, some dangerous ideas

Might work for first world whites living in safe communities who only dealt with one-time events they need to get over. Author even recommends inventing a fake past if yours isn't happy enough. People forgiving and forgetting the bad and what causes it makes history repeat itself.

Stopped without finishing because this approach can be even harmful. If you got CPTSD, have Dark Triad people in your life or are experiencing systemic abuse on a permanent basis, you need a more grounded and realistic approach.
