About this listen

The King is dead. Long live the King. And death to his enemies.

Bargained away to Dawn Court, Kat must play the part of a helpless human bewitched by the Day King. But beneath the veneer of submission, she's playing a far more dangerous game—spying for Dusk Court, and for the one person who holds her heart: Bastian.

Separated from the woman he loves, Bastian has no time to rage against fate—or his queen. With his city on the brink of collapse and war brewing, he must uncover the truth before a devastating betrayal shatters everything he's fought to protect.

As the enemy's hold on Kat tightens, secrets from the past threaten to unravel the courts' fragile alliance. Every step brings the couple closer to a deadly choice: risk everything for love—or lose it all to the lies that bind them.

With danger, desire, and dark secrets, A Promise of Lies is the epic conclusion to Shadows of the Tenebris Court, an addictive romantasy trilogy ideal for fans of morally grey shadow daddies and heroines who refuse to give up—even when death seems set to win.

So I think the narration is the most important point to cover.
The male narrator was terrible, he was better in the 2nd book, but I nearly stopped listening to this as it was so bad! He reminds of the audio description you have for TV programmes.
The spicy scene in the hot springs was completely ruined by this bored sounding voice. 😫
The female narrator was better, but still not great!
Anyway the final instalment of these books was an exciting story, with many twists and turns, but happy that Bastian & Kat got what they deserved. 🤩

Ok! But the male narrator was awful! 😓

I dipped into this trilogy as Book 1 - A Kiss of Iron - was free. I liked it so much, I purchased Books 2 & 3 before I started listening to Book 2. Then it all seemed to go wrong. A male voice was brought in to play Bastion. Why? Sarah Sampino seemed to be doing a pretty good job with both main characters. If you are going to bring in another narrator, Amazon could of at least ensured he was up to the job. I have seen cardboard with more character than this. It was painful, but I managed to drag myself through Book 2, and that was because I found the storyline, overall, very good. Now on the final book with so much more of Bastion, my disappointment that a good trilogy should have been ruined by the poor choice of narrator has really frustrated me, hence the reason for a 3 star rating. The only thing I can say is if I see this narrator's voice on another book, I will avoid it at all costs.

What a Shame!

I bought this book because I wanted to finish the series but the male narrator was just horrible. I almoust gave up listening just because that.
