About this listen

March of the Stone Men–The Stone Man, Book Four

The return of the Stone Men reaches its dramatic conclusion…

The internationally bestselling Stone Man series returns! The five battered survivors of the Fifth Arrival have reached the Isle of Skye, only to face an impossible mission: destroy the Barrier that has trapped the country and stop the ever-growing army of Stone Men. The survival of humanity itself hangs in the balance, and though they’ve been given their greatest weapon yet, our heroes must first learn how to wield it... before time runs out.

But these are ordinary, frightened, and exhausted people. Their journey will take them from the rugged coast of Scotland to the heart of England, crossing the land on foot. As secrets come to light and tensions rise, conflicting personal objectives threaten the fragile balance essential for harnessing their powers as a unit. To stand a chance, our heroes must master their unity or face annihilation.

The March of the Stone Men has begun.

Concluding the epic arc that began in The Empty Men and continued through The Stone Giant, the fourth installment of The Stone Man series promises to thrill, terrify, and captivate audiences once more—twelve years in the making.

Great end to a great story.

A fantastic end to a great series. Fantastic characters brought to life by another fantastic performance from Matt Addis. The story is tea well put together and has a satisfying ending with just enough opportunity to continue on and boy do I want to find out more….

Smitherd does it again ….pure genius.

A feeling of pure satisfaction coming to the end of this series with no problem waiting in between for each book. I worked my way through the rest of Luke’s books, “ Physics of the Dead “ being a particular favourite.
Smitherd is pure genius.

Fantastic end to the series

This is a fabulous closing chapter on the series that began with The Stone Man. I can't quite fathom how the author isn't more widely known. These books deserve to be read or heard far and wide. Thank you, Luke, for all the hard work and I look forward to seeing what comes out of that fertile mind next!

A satisfying conclusion

Heartbreaking. Heart stopping. Thrilling. Terrifying. This had me gripped all the way through. The author concludes the Stone saga in a jaw dropping final chapter. Extremely well established characters, who feel like real people. Excellent narration by the now apparently stinking rich Matt Addis. Highly recommend.

An amazing piece of writing

I’ve got to admit I’m one of the people the author mentions at the end of the book that mentioned about the trilogy at the end of the third book and what I’d thought was going to be concluding book. I think I’d got that from the audible write up…but any case, apologies.
I found the third book hard work (but still compelling) mainly because it was just so bloody gruesome and lacking in hope. The topping being the sickening death of millions of people which didn’t seem to overly affect anyone.
…..So book four and the conclusion, I’ve waited years for this and tbh would have waited another decade, this book was absolutely brilliant, there was death and loss but unlike in the Stone Giant there was an under current of hope throughout the whole thing, even in the most hopeless of situations. The action scenes were fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat. This is literally one of the best works of fiction I’ve ever listened to and all I can say is thank you to the author for creating it.
For me the ending concludes things fine…but if at some stage there was a fifth in the saga I wouldn’t say it was stretching things out….just please no more holocausts lol.
Thank you Luke

An epic conclusion

This week I finished March of the Stone Men, what an epic conclusion to a brilliant story. Thanks to some great writing by my (2nd) favourite author Luke Smitherd I feel like I've been on a real journey with Andy, Paul, Maria and the others over the last 6 years of listening to their exploits and really got to know what made them tick.
Shout out obviously to the fantastic Matt Addis for his amazing voice talents bringing each character to life and carrying on the continuity over 4 books that was just phenomenal.
What a journey 🙌🙌

The Aliens to the The Stone Man’s Alain

Fantastic conclusion to the series. Definitely need the other books first though. Truly harrowing and touching in the way only Luke’s works has been for me. Thanks again for a smashing 7 years of story
