About this listen
It's a profile, like all the others on the online dating site. But as NYPD Detective Kat Donovan focuses on the accompanying picture, she feels her whole world explode, as emotions she's ignored for decades come crashing down on her. Staring back at her is her ex-fiancé Jeff, the man who shattered her heart 18 years ago. Kat feels a spark, wondering if this might be the moment when past tragedies recede and a new world opens up to her.
But when she reaches out to the man in the profile, her reawakened hope quickly darkens into suspicion and then terror as an unspeakable conspiracy comes to light, in which monsters prey upon the most vulnerable. As Kat's hope for a second chance with Jeff grows more and more elusive, she is consumed by an investigation that challenges her feelings about everyone she ever loved - her former fiancé, her mother, and even her father, whose cruel murder so long ago has never been fully explained.
With lives on the line, including her own, Kat must venture deeper into the darkness than she ever has before, and discover if she has the strength to survive what she finds there. Read by Kerry Shale

Characters
Characters sounded like something out the Simpsons. Storyline would suit a teenager . Performance was very mediocre.

Love this stuff!
Harlan Coben never lets me down.
I look forward to the weaving of the plot strands as he guides us to the end. Kerry Shale us always the flawless narrator.

Best book I have listened to in a long time
Some gripping parts in the book which keep you listening. The narration of a few characters is quite poor, but does get better in the last third of the book. Definitely worth a listen!

Couldn't stop listening
This is another superb book by Harlan Coben. The man is a genius! This story is well written and the plot just keeps you hooked.
This audio book kept me taking the long route home so that I could keep on listening to it.
As usual Kerry Shale does a really good job of reading the storey and bringing the correctors to life.

Terrible narration, ok story
Ok story, but made unbearable by the bad 'voices' done by the narrator. Couldn't finish it because it annoyed me that much.

Another winter for Coben
Really enjoyed this book and wish that there was another one to continue Kats adventure / some of the secondary characters deserve to be developed further - buts that’s just my opinion 😊
Lots of good twists and turn and although there are two separate story lines going it’s not confusing at all, also enjoyed the subtle nod to Win Lockwood very much

Not his best but still a goodie!
Loved the story but found it somewhat predictable in places, would still give it a try though as it was very easy listening.

Gripping book
Nothing to dislike. Great book. Super twists. I have listened to many of the authors books now, and they’re all exceptional. @Addictive, listening. As with all the authors books, you really have to pay attention in the first few chapters as all the story lanes merge together. But I must say I’ve never listened to one of the books that I was confused in the first chapter. After that, impossible to put down.

Great story. Appalling narration
The reader was fine until he tried to do the different voices. All his male voices sounded retarded. The female ones not much better. It would have been improved if he had just read with no distinction. Such a shame as the story was good. Unfortunately I shall not be listening to another book narrated by this man
